If April showers bring May flowers....

Then what is going on?  I don't see a warm, sunny day until May 11th!!!  And that day is followed by more RAIN.  Ulgh.  I'm cold, the boys want to play outside.  Rain, rain go away, come back another YEAR!

Such a little peanut!

Wyatt had his 9 month check-up today.  He is such a laid back kid, it's almost unbelievable.  He didn't even cry when he got shots!  And while we were waiting for the doctor, he just sat on my lap, playing with the strings from my sweatshirt, content as can be.  He grinned at Dr. Boschler like a goober, and a got a clean bill of health!  Here are his stats, and Wayne and Weston for comparison:

                  Wyatt                                  Wayne                         Weston
Height      28 inches                           30 1/4 inches                     30 inches
Percentile   40%                                      100%+                           85%
Weight     16 lbs.                                    19 lb. 3 oz.                      18 lbs. 13 oz.
Percentile   -5%                                         30%                              10%
Head           44cm                                                                          46cm
Percentile     20%                                                                            50cm

We always call Wyatt "little peanut," but now I guess we know how true that is.  At minus 5% on the weight chart, he is teeny, tiny.  Dr. Boschler could not believe how much he eats though, and wasn't at all concerned.  It just goes with his easy going nature, and he has always been small.  Wayne and Weston's weight both dipped at their 9 month appointments, and then came back up at 12 months, so I bet that's where Wyatt will go too.  He's about to hit a huge growth spurt, judging from how much he is sleeping.  Some mornings, he doesn't wake up until 10am!  And then there is the 3 or 4 hour naps.  Now, if only he'd rub off on his brothers!

Can you call it a nap,

if you never got out of bed in the first place?

Wyatt is in the middle of the biggest growth spurt of his young life, if eating and sleeping have anything to do with it!  He's been sleeping all night, and getting up at 6am or so to eat, then falling back to sleep until 9 or 10am.  By 12pm, he's EXHAUSTED and goes down for another nap, usually 3-4 hours, then he's awake from 4 to 7pm, when he collapses in his bed yet again, for the night.  WOW!!!!  What a guy.  When he's awake, he's happy, and he LOVES his bed, and is already pretty attached to his blankie.  Really attached.  He won't fall to sleep without it!  He's also figured out that he can twist himself in a circle when he's laying on his belly and is propped up by his arms.  Hmm.. Could crawling be in his future?  Scary!!!

We had cousin Treven over on Saturday night while Tyson and Breanne went for dinner.  He was such a hoot, busy body Treven fits right in to the crazy Silves household!!!  He loved watching the boys, and then when they'd come over to play, the little guy (and I say that as a term of endearment, not in any way as a statement of his physical nature!) was beside himself!!!

Tuesday's Tidbit # ?

Today's tidbit is this:

I hate the new blogger. While I enjoy being able to click "xlarge" for my pictures and not having to go in and doctor their HTML codes, I do not like the way this blogger acts, not at all.

Okay, that tidbit was kind of lame.

Let's reverse.

Today's tidbit is.... our flower beds take 5 yards of compost/bark.

Okay, that was dumb too.

One more time. The third time's the charm, right?

Here's a list of the boys "bike" toys.

John Deere Tractor with pedals
Radio Flyer Trike
Hot wheels type trike
Wayne's big boy 2 wheeler.
Wayne's scooter

Seriously? I think we need to build a parking garage, especially when you add in their Power Wheels!

Wyatt's 9 month pictures

Wyatt's 9 month pictures have been taken, and now I need help deciding which ones to print.

I usually love to edit pictures, but editing them of my own precious boys is tough.  I am such a perfectionist!!!

Click HERE to see his pictures, and leave a comment to let me know which ones are your favorites!

I wish, I wish, to catch a fish.

Saturday was opening day for fishing, which means that the boys and men folk of the county all migrate to Silver Lake to troll the chilly waters for fish!  This was Wayne's second year to join the big boys, and he asked if he could take Ethan with.  Of course!  What did I care... Tyler was the one that had to deal with two four year old's on the boat! :-)

Here's the thing though.  It was COLD, and WET and WINDY.  Poor kids!  Word on the street is that Ethan did fabulous.  He sat still, obeyed, and had fun.  Wayne on the other hand... word on the street was that they were less than 100 ft. from the launch dock, and Wayne was asking to go home and said that he needed his Mama.  Ruh-roh.  I guess he cried for 3/4 of the trip, but each boy managed to reel in one fish.  Success!  I had hot cocoa for them in the car when they got back, for the ride home, and I guess that was a hit.  Chilly!  I begged, pleaded, and insisted that Tyler get pictures, and I even described the shots, "Wayne and Ethan with Grandpa, Grandpa helping them, Dad and Wayne and Ethan, Dad and Wayne, Wayne and Ethan" but in the "heat" of the moment, "someone" (who shall remain nameless, but I think we all know) managed to get off 4 shots.  Four.  He's losing his title as Paparazzi.

Back at the homestead, we did manage to get a few more pictures of the boys.  Tanya?  Not scared of the fish.  Ethan?  Not a fan.  Good for catching and eating, but not for touching!  We did get him to feel the fish though, shortly after this shot.  Maybe it was the line of blood dripping from its mouth that turned him off?

I think that fun times were had by all, despite the weather!

P.S.  Grandpa says Wayne can't go shrimping this year.  I bet he could if his Mama went though!  :-)

Do you know where the week went?

Because I sure don't!  How on earth is it Thursday already!  I've had some time off, worked some, cleaned the house, done laundry, and I've been researching and ordering "stuff" for projects.  Whew!  Here's a few recent pictures, and a little bit more of what we've been up to.

We've been playing, playing playing and eating a LOT of popsicles on the warm days.  We're starting out spring/summer 2010 the same way we ended fall 2009....  in our undies by the end of the day!

Don't you like to run and chase your brother while eating a Popsicle?
Wyatt's been eating and eating and eating lately.  He even had pancakes a few mornings ago!  And loved them, I might add.  He is bottomless, that's certain!  He's been taking L-O-N-G naps too, I'm talking three or four hours in a row.  Amazing!

And Weston has been having a ton of fun playing outside.  So much fun, that this is how I found him at 11:30am.  He skipped lunch, and I carried him straight to bed.  He was OUT like a light.  It's been funny to see his sense of humor kicking in too.  He does something funny, and then makes this face that totally says, "I'm so funny!"  Cracks me up!

Signs of Spring

  1. There are toys strewn about the back yard
  2. The house was 75 degrees tonight
  3. The furnace has been shut off
  4. Even though I cleaned the bath tub yesterday, there's a ring of dirt about 6 inches up, all the way around the tub
  5. The boys are up at 5:30am
  6. The boys are falling asleep on the couch by 6:30pm
  7. Wayne and Weston are going through at least two pairs of pants each day, they are getting so filthy dirty while playing outside
  8. I wake up each morning to the sound of birds chirping
  9. There are Popsicle sticks scattered around the back yard
  10. The boys' drawers are overflowing with sweats, sweatshirts, shorts, t-shirts and tank tops.  You never know what a day might bring!

Relaxed

I know...  Can you believe it?  I feel RELAXED!  :-)

Today is day three of Tyler's weekend of working, which can usually be our long one.  I am SO excited that we both have the next few days off of work to sit around home and be together.  We all need it.  I took the boys to church this morning, and I have to say... it might have been our most "entertaining" trip yet, for you fly's on our walls.  Every week I am positive and convinced I am remembering the last time we went to be worse than it actually was, and every time I come home, I think to myself, "Why was I so naive?"  Here's the rundown:
  • Got to church at 9 am to do the bulletin board.  Locked the kids behind the gate, and everything was great.
  • Brought Weston and Wayne to class, where they both clung to one of my legs, screaming, "mama don't leave me! and Mama! at the top of their lungs.  I peeled Weston off of me and handed him to the helper, and caved and let Wayne come to church with me.  Wyatt went to the nursery.
  • Wayne came to church, started off great and loving it and being so excited for the worship service.  He was dancing and bouncing around, with the BIGGEST smile on his face.  Then there was the baptism's, and he turned to me to ask why those people were being baptized.  I told him that they were obeying Jesus, and he responded with, "Yes.  Jesus wants us to be cleaned, so we have to be baptized!"
  • By midway through the service Wayne was exhausted and antsy.  I became a human lounge chair as he tried to get comfortable and take a rest.  Then he became STARVING and ate the equivalent of an entire cereal bowl of cousin Treven's cheerios.  Then he ran out of church to go find a chocolate muffin.  I ran after him.
  • Out in the hallway, we saw Weston's class walking back in from a walk outside.  I grabbed Wayne and ducked into the opening of the men's bathroom to hide.  I didn't want Weston to see us and start crying all over again!!!!
  • An usher came to see if he could take Wayne to the bathroom for me.  I told him no, we were hiding from the toddler class.  Even though I know him really well, he still looked at me funny.
  • Wayne and I came out of hiding and got the muffin and waited for the end of the service.  I had a friend sit in the car with Wayne and Wyatt, and went and got Weston from class.  Whew!
After church, Tanya and Jason swung by and picked up Wayne for a playdate.  Have I mentioned lately that she's the best thing since sliced bread?  That girl AMAZES me!  She is always there for me, no questions asked.  And not because I ever ask for help, she just offers it.  And then acts like I was doing HER a favor by letting her help.  Sheesh.  After they left, I fed the younger boys, and everyone went down for a Sunday afternoon siesta.  Much needed!!!  Even when Weston woke up, we snuggled for an hour and it was so nice to just spend time alone with him.  Wyatt took his usually 3 1/2 hour nap, and so it was just Weston and I for the rest of the afternoon.  Sweet!

Wayne came back around 4:30, and now him and Weston are acting like long lost brothers and are playing outside on this 75 degree day.  Wyatt is inside playing on the floor in peace and without fear of his life, and I am.... blogging!  And enjoying the moment.  And my coffee.  Why can't the entire day be this good?

April 16: a beautiful, gorgeous, warm, sunny, fantastic day.

The boys and I have been outside for the past hour, and the spent even more time without me in the backyard before that. It is BEAUTIFUL, warm, and my heart is singing right now. It's 69.5 degrees, the sun is shining, we're at home, and it's BLISS.

Even though it's hard to believe things could be any better.... The just got better yet! The boys and I just assembled a 4 foot "deck box" for their toys. It's been an issue lately. Wayne is so stinkin' anal about picking up his toys that he throws a FIT if he can't clean up. But I don't want him the garage, or getting in and out of the garage, where his toys are. Tyler's boat is in there, the Denali, lots of sharp tools, and both boys know how to open the garage door. All of this is a recipe for disaster! So last night we picked up this deck box, and the boys were soo excited as they helped me to assemble it, and then they were in charge of emptying ALL of their toys out of the garage and in to their box. The only toys NOT in their box are bikes and balls. Yay! They are playing, playing, playing, and I am guessing they will be in bed by 6:30pm. They played outside most of the morning, and by 11:45am I found Weston passed out sleeping on the couch and had to carry him to his room. Hah!

After 36 hours post "last return" I am finally perking up a bit. I can not believe how absolutely drained I was. I know it will take a few days, but I am relieved to have the sun out and warmer weather. It puts a smile on my face and it feels as though my heart is singing.

Another note... I am going to be doing some SERIOUS laundry for awhile. I can't believe how dirty those boys get out there!!! Good thing I have strong cleaning products! :-)

Now, it's on to the project list. Want to know what's on it?

  • New mulch/bark for the flower beds
  • New sink and faucet in the kitchen
  • Fix the microwave handle
  • Pressure wash and re-seal the patio and sidewalk
  • Plant the garden
  • Scrapbook through December 2009
  • Put shutters on the house
Okay, that's enough for now. The boys are needing help building a farm in the desert! (aka the sandbox!)

Free at last, free at last

Finally, finally, I AM FREE AT LAST!

After putting in a 13 hour day, I am DONE with tax season 2010. Hip hip hooray!!!!!

Tomorrow, I plan on sitting, resting, playing with the boys, going to Lynden, and running to church to fix a bulletin board that still says, "God made me unique like a snowflake". Hmm... April 15th is high time to take that down!

I am so grateful for the people that I work with, the clients' that I serve, and a job that I am talented at and that I enjoy so completely. It is truly a blessing!

But I am soo glad to have the next week off! :-)

Checking back in

to bring you little more of what we've been up to. I've managed to get a few hours of working in, and will finish off with a few more tonight after the kids go to bed. We've also had Tara and Madelyn over while their car was having an oil change, made a crockpot of sausage and veggie stew for dinner, done 5 loads of laundry, and made sure no one was stinky or soggy. Whew, what a day!

The boys are doing well, just BUSY. Weston's latest hangout is in Wyatt's high chair. He's either reliving his old "glory" days, or is just waiting around for a handout of Wyatt's snacks.

Tyler had a great time on their trip, and they came back with lots of stories and actually a couple hundred shrimp too. Woohoo! Some of those suckers were REALLY fat too. Tyler took a few pictures, but virtually NONE of people. With the exception of Virginia and Andy, the owner's of Cedar Beach bed and breakfast, on Thetis Island. It's only a few hours away, and they drove into Canada, and then drove the boat to the Island. Andy and Virginia picked them up from the marina each night, and brought them back each morning. The island is apparently very small, and very laid back.

Here's Andy and Virginia!
And here she is, making one of her famous breakfasts. Nice shot Tyler! :-)

Shrimpies!
I think there are seals in this picture.
