These Boots are Made for Walking

Wyatt finally fits into the size 8 boots that Aunt Thelma bought for him - and he hasn't taken them off but to sleep in 2 days!  He LOVES "my boots" and clomps around everywhere with them.  They look cute with jammies, but they are SUPER cute with jeans and a plaid shirt.  Our very own little ode to Iowa. 

Breakfast at Cedar Hill

We've been trying to find time to squeeze in dinner with Grandpa and Grandma, but our schedule is FULL, so we resorted to inviting ourselves over for breakfast on Saturday!  :-)  Well, I think technically I said, "Let's all go out" to which I KNEW my mom would offer to make it instead.  What can I say?  I've known her all my life, and I know her well!

On the menu was buttermilk pancakes with blueberries, scrambled eggs, sausage and BACON!  The boys can really eat, and did they ever.  Although, I think Wayne limited himself to just 3 pancakes since he was going straight to a basketball game.  Such self control!

 Mom and Dad are building a covered area above the back porch - it is going to be so nice when it's all done!  Protection from the rain AND the sun, perfect!

After INHALING all that food, we were off to a basketball game in Lynden - just a typical Silves Saturday, now that Tyler has every weekend off. 

Weston's Busy Week

Weston had a FULL calendar this week.  Speech, basketball, an eye doctor appointment, and pajama day at school - yahoo!  He is loving basketball, and while it's pretty chaotic in the gym with 20 kids, he tries really hard and has a smile on his face the whole time. 

 Pajama day was BIG news around here.  He wanted to wear his Scooby jamma's.  And his big coat with them.  Pajama day was Wednesday, so of course on Thursday he thought he could wear pajamas again.  Nope!

 He loves to make silly faces and poses for the camera, then check himself out.

The eye doctor took FOREVER, but we are clear on glasses for another year, so fingers crossed that doesn't change! 

On tap for this week?  Well child visit, speech, 2 basketball practices for Weston, 2 for Wayne, basketball for Tyler, a Women's Ministry Team meeting for me, and...  I'm sure something else will come up!  :-)

Silves Home Tour - 2012

After being inspired on the Bethany Home Tour this past December - I made a decor to-do list for our house.  On this list?  Out with the old - streamline, simplify.  Make the kids rooms look like kids rooms- personalize them.  And finally - bring in more PICTURES of our family to our home.  I've completed all the projects, so drum roll please.....

In Weston's room we rearranged furniture, and got new bedding, a new lamp, and coordinated his bulletin board with everything.  He says he is a "big kid" now and promises to quit taking his mattress off his box spring every morning.  We shall see!

 Above the mantel needed some SERIOUS help - so my interior designer (also my Mom!) decked it out as part of my Christmas present.  She rocks!

 The entry way... I love. Pretty AND practical!  I still need to find some baskets to go int he shelving unit, but you get the idea.

 Now hang a right out of the kitchen, and head up the stairs.  See all the PICTURES!   Shoot.  I just saw the frame with empty spaces in it.  I'll have to work on that.  

Now climb the stairs, and take another right into the master bathroom/family bathroom.  I took the old and dated $20 Ross pictures down, and found this pretty little metal/candle display to put on the nice empty wall. Well, my designer told me to go to Target, which isle to go down, and what shelf to find it on, but I still found it myself! 

 LOVE this wall in the bathroom.  It's the first thing I look at when I wake up in the morning.  I'm still working on what to put on the shelf.  I like the PRAY sign, but the W is just there because Wyatt keeps trying to shoot hoops with it.

 In our room, above the dresser, right next to the window with the REAL birch tree outside.

 This shows you a bit of our room, looking into the bathroom.  I didn't feel like making the bed for real just to take the picture, so we are strategically angled here.  I bought new lamps and mirrors, and rearranged some pictures in our room.  It actually looks like someone took some thought with it!

 Moving on to Wayne's room....  Tyler helped me make these shelves out of flat baseboard.  I made 3 30" shelves for $25.  Not bad!  Wayne loves the display space for all of his Lego creations. 

 At the end of his bed, another few shelves with LOTS of Lego's, and his "blocking" man.

 Wayne's bed - he wanted a gray and orange theme, with a little bit of Huskies thrown into the mix. 

 His new desk with Lego empire, and the "shooting" man.  He loves how it turned out, and so do I.  A room he can grow into and have for a long time to come.  He's also super excited that when the baby comes, Wyatt gets to move in with him.  He's already counting the sleeps!

That's enough for now!  We'll see what we can accomplish before NAPTIME!

No day like a SNOW DAY!

We cancelled a well child check, basketball was cancelled, and our day was WIDE OPEN with nothing to do but stay home, play outside, and clean!    Can you guess who did what?  Wayne is definitely the die hard - he went out the most and stayed out the longest.  Weston was right up there - but eventually his "toes got cold" and he came in to.  Wyatt?  Not so much!  He'd rather eat a snack and have hot cocoa in the kitchen with Mom.  Dare I call him.....  Joy Boy?  :-)  We even got to have Treven come play for a little bit!  I just loved that the boys got fresh air, and a little creativity out there.  And that Tyler came home early from work.  It's been a good day. 

Happy 4th Birthday Weston!

Four years ago, a darn cute little boy arrived here on Earth.  My pregnancy was a bit scary - 6 weeks of total bed rest because of pre-term labor concerns, a 3 day hospital stay, and ta-da!  Weston joined our family.  As I think over just the past year - this little boy has really become a "big kid" as he likes to say.  He is pottie trained, he goes to preschool, he is a kind, sweet, and sensitive boy.  He makes friends easily, and is very loyal and protective of them.  He loves his brothers, and almost always shares with them.  He loves "points" and keeps track - 2 points for sharing, 2 points for pooping, 1 point for getting dressed, 2 points for cleaning up... you get the idea.  He is "talkin' lots" and enjoys playing basketball.  Where have 4 years gone?  At least I have pictures and video, and memories galore!  :-)

Weston's birthday was a blast - we had a big breakfast and opened his presents, we went to Red Robin for lunch, ran a few errands and picked up a few birthday treats, then went to Wayne's practice.   After that  - grilled cheese for dinner, and a party!  He had his first soy ice cream banana split, and fell in LOVE.  Our family is so special to us - that they take the time to come out and spend the evening with this precious 4 year old - seeing his face light up as he talked to everyone, opened gifts, and blew out his candles... it just melts my heart.  We love you Weston!
