Check out my cute gardener boys!

I love our garden - especially since the "hired help" handles all the watering and harvesting!  These two spend hours out there checking on their crop and deciding when to harvest something or let it grow some more.  The downside is they are both color blind, so sometimes the tomatoes are orange and not quite red when they are picked.  Oh well - you get what you pay for.  And no, child labor laws don't apply on this family farm!

It was quite the haul!  Just another day.

Northwest Washington Fair - 2013

It was one big last hurrah before Tyler headed out of town for the guys' annual fishing trip, so off we went to the fair. Since we missed last year (Addison was only a few weeks old) the kids were especially excited to take it all in this year.  There was even a family cheer that happened on the sidewalk outside.  Oh yeah!
Who knew Noah's Ark would be at the fair this year?  The boys were in awe of this, and combed every square inch.  They even recited their summer verse to the volunteers "Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks" Mathew 4:24
I don't think the fair organizers can understand the attraction that the Lego exhibit provides.  So cool!
After looking through most of the exhibits and half the barns, the rides were FINALLY opened and away they went.  Wayne, Weston, Madelyn and Wyatt hit the rides together and a had a blast.  Wyatt wasn't tall enough for any of the rides by himself, so we sent Tyler scrambling through the line to get a ride pass so that Wyatt could go.  MUCH BETTER!  Poor kiddo was broken hearted when the Carnie's told him "you're too short."  Hey, we like to think of it as "petitie."

Grandma even helped him out a few times.

Sister sat in her stroller the entire day.  What a girl!
And it's Wayne in first, coming into the finish!

By afternoon it was getting pretty toasty, so sno-cones were a hit.

 One last ride...
The highlight of my fair experience (aside from watching the kids take it all in) was my trip to the CUTCO counter.  Seriously in love with my knives from there.  It was a great day - we lasted from 9am to 7:15.  What a fun day!

Miscelleneous Musings - Summer 2013

Whew!  After some MAD blogging of late, I am caught up with everything, I think.  The last few weeks of summer we still have the Fair, Eliza, and...  Hmm.  I guess that's it!  That's pretty short list, for sure.  All is well with the Silves family.  The kids are growing growing, growing and have had a good summer.

Addison - Just turned one, and is starting to really get around the house and wreak some havoc with my drawers, etc.  She's got 3 "policemen" that watch her every move, since she's the "bad guy."  Poor thing.  She loves them but also likes the freedom she has when she is alone.  She still sleeps like a crazy girl, and steals the heart of anyone who holds her.  Which is A LOT of people since she's not one bit shy.

Wyatt - Still aka Junior around here, he is swimming with a swim vest in the pool, and is beyond nuts.  He jumps off the top rung of the ladder, forwards/backwards, and any other dare devil move he can think of.  He reminds me sooo much of my brother Todd!  Of course, all that water led to his tubes coming out, and that led to another horrid ear infection.  Poor Dude!  He is going to have his adenoids and tonsils out, and then tubes put in this September.  He'll also be starting preschool in about a month.  Can't believe the little dude is 4!  He is doing great at speech, and has made a ton of progress, and he still loves any sport with a BALL and anything that has WHEELS.  He wears his bike helmet 75% of the time, even if he's not riding his bike.  And it's a good thing, sometimes it comes in handy!

Weston - Weston has had a great summer, learning to ride his bike without training wheels, then moving up to a bigger bike, again without training wheels.  He's a crazy driver, goes fast, and takes the turns tight.  He also learned to swim and can go the full distance of our 20ft pool without touching the bottom.  Speech and OT are going well, and we are trying to get everything scheduled around school, which will be FULL time for him this year as a kindergartner.  Big news!  He is also excited to play football this year, especially with some kids his own age, and Wayne as well.  Any guesses who their coach will be?  :-)

Wayne - Wayne has been reading and writing a ton this summer, as part of my "no back slide" initiative.  He frequently reads for up to an hour while winding down at night, and is working his way through a favorite series.  He helps out a ton around the house, doing regular chores every day, weekly chores, and "because mom needs help" chores too.  He has a summer job, watering flowers for a neighbor, and faithfully walks over 6 days a week.  It takes him about 20 minutes or so to get there, water, and come back, but sometimes if he chats with her a bit, it can take 30 minutes.  I bet you all can't imagine Wayne being a chatter, right?  :-)  He is looking forward to school starting, seeing his friends, and playing football.

BP Picnic 2013

It was our first year out at the BP Picnic, since Tyler was gone fishing last year and I didn't want to venture out alone.  Let me say.. it was worth the wait!  Unbelievable.  It has a family reunion type of atmosphere, and enough to keep the kids busy playing and eating for hours and hours on end.  We do not have timid boys - they all 3 jump right in without looking back.. or DOWN!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Nothing like an impromptu gathering for "Little Caeser's" to celebrate Dad's birthday, only to find out it was NORTH FORK for the adults!  MMMmmm..  And the kids were all so good, it was really fun.  That might sound odd to hear me say, but folks with 8 kids 7 and under, we have had some chaotic gatherings over the past few years.  Slowly but surely they are becoming LESS work, and more FUN!  :-)

And who couldn't have fun in this gorgeous place?  The kids run wild up and down the hill, and then to the sand box, back for food, and then back out again.
Even Uncle Todd is around now!  He is working full time out of Anacortes, and it's been really nice to have him around again.  Love him!
The Silves boys are all highly concerned with Kallen's hair (it's long) and the last time they were at Aunt Breanne's, once of them told her, "He needs it cut before he gets married."  So cute though - reminds me of Tyson as a little kid!
And here's Todd again!  With Amy!  She was up for the week, and fit right in with the family.

Okay, ignore my dorky look, but here's my Tay!  She adores her Aunt Nonya, and what's not to love?  :-)
Grandma might have been missing some blackberries by the time we left...
Tradition is delicious when it's Mom's Mocha Cake!

And a rare photo indeed... look at Grandpa and Grandma with all their grands!
The first fort was built...

Happy Birthday Dad!!!  We love you!
