I miss you, Mom!
When Weston got home from school today, he ran up to me, threw his arms around my neck, and said (clear as day) "I MISS YOU MOM!" Be still my heart.

Family Picture Outtakes - 2011
Annual family photo time arrived a few weeks back, and I think this must be our year, because we got some FAB family photos! All boys looking AT the camera, all at the same time. I can't ask for more! I was aiming for some more casual pictures too - you know, the ones where not everyone is looking and smiling, but that still capture our young family. Since I want to hold off on showing you my favorite family photo until it's Christmas card time, I thought I'd give you a sneak peek at the ones that didn't make the cut. This first one is a prime example - Wyatt insisted on not one but TWO fingers up his nose!

A darling Mother/Son photo between family shots.... It's a "framer" for sure!
Goal!!!! Wayne's very first goal ever!
Game 3 of the Fall 2011 soccer season was at 10:20am at Northwest fields, and was a BEAUTIFUL day. Not 90 degrees and HOT, just warm and sunny. Tyler was off, and we were excited to load up in the car and take the boys to the game! Wayne was excited too. Up until today, he has enjoyed soccer - always wants to go to practice/games, but really just liked the social side of things, not so much the "love of the game." Little did we know when we pulled out of our garage... we would be returning with a SOCCER PLAYER!
As soon as the game started... Wayne was RUNNING. Not just running to keep up with the crowd, but running to GO AFTER THE BALL! THAT kind of running. It was obvious he had just discovered what this whole soccer thing was about. Within minutes....
GOAL!!! He had a kick in bounds, and followed the ball and put it straight in the goal. YAHOO! I don't know who celebrated more... Wayne, his Dad, me, or Grandma! Okay, it was TOTALLY Grandma! :-) It was funny watching him pump his fists and jump up and down, I was thinking that this was his FIRST goals. He will have lots more in his athletic career... but this was his FIRST goal. SO PROUD!
Later in the game... he scored again! He ran and ran, all the way up to the last air horn of the day. He had SO MUCH fun. As we walked back to the car, he was just chatting away with his buddy Kasey about all the goals they had scored, the teams they played, etc. Here's PRAYING for sunny weekends through October!

Waiting for the bus in the RAIN!
The HUGE downpours earlier this week meant waiting for the bus in the rain for the first time, and also wearing coats to school for the first time! I know, I know. I am one strange mama.... but they looked so cute waiting on the porch that we had to do an impromptu photoshoot!
I love our "waiting for the bus" time each morning. We are always ready at least 10 minute earlier, which gives us plenty of time to hangout on the front porch and wait. We chat about the day, and take the time to pray together. It's so precious to hear each of their prayer requests - they can be anything from, "keep me safe and bring me home to my whole family" to "help me be nice to the boy in class" and don't forget, "there be plenty of food in my lunch." We are definitely enjoying our school routine!
Sunday afternoon Coffee with Aunt Thelma
Last Sunday it was our delight to have Aunt Thelma and Beppe over for an impromptu coffee in the afternoon. The time went by lightening fast, but it was lovely all the same! The boys were chatter boxes, and of course they adore anyone that brings CAKE, especially when it's Dutch Mocha Cake! :-)
Wy-Wy buddied right up to Aunt Thelma, and parked his rear in his lap. He LOVES the hand that feeds him!Wednesday, September 21, 2011
Awesome God
It's that time again... a song is calling out to be shared! :-)
You are the Awesome God - Mercy Me
You're my strength
and you are my salvation
I will put my trust in you
My heart sings
in you my soul rejoices
in this song of praise to you
You are the awesome God
You are the great I am
the only living word
Wonderful Counselor
You are the Awesome God
you are the first and last
the only living word
Age to age still the same
awesome God
and you are my salvation
I will put my trust in you
My heart sings
in you my soul rejoices
in this song of praise to you
You are the awesome God
You are the great I am
the only living word
Wonderful Counselor
You are the Awesome God
you are the first and last
the only living word
Age to age still the same
awesome God

Boys Night Out
On Friday night Dad and Wayne took off for the LC vs. Nooksack football game. It was Wayne's first football game, and he talked nonstop about it all day - wondering what it would be like, who he would see, and what he would EAT! Tyler got off work early and raced home, and the two of them were out the door. Wayne told me he had to wear his hat, because he had a date with his Dad! Oh yes, and he wanted his own money to spend, and cracked open his piggy bank. I told him to keep his $5, I'd pay for his date for him! :-)
Wayne loved the game. The one on one with Dad, the food (I'm told he had a lot of candy, and 2 popcorns and spicy nachos!) and all the people. Tyler just loved that he could take a boy to a game and ENJOY it. Not that he had to watch him while I was working or away, but that he could just spend time with him, enjoying him.... He's growing up so much and so fast lately, these moments all seem so new. We LOVE the stage he is in, just like we loved it when he was a baby, a toddler, and a terrible TWO! :-) Hmm.. I guess we just LOVE HIM!

Weston's first day of Preschool
Tuesday, September 13th was Weston's first day of preschool for the 2011-2012 school year. WOW! He asked EVERYDAY of summer when he got to go on the bus again. At long last (in his mind) it's time! Weston goes to school 4 days each week, for half days. With the bus ride, he's gone far too long for my liking, but even after only 4 days of class this week I've noticed a remarkable improvement in how much he talks. There is something about being around a bunch of kids your own age that just gets Weston talking. I love that he comes home with "stories" to tell me, and he has a new found love for SINGING. I've got to tell you.. he's got the sweetest little voice and can really carry a tune (AND bust a move!) He is downright precious.
He was SO excited to have his backpack packed and ready to go. He likes his juice/water in his bottle, in the outside pocket of his bag, and then he's ready to go!
Two backpacks by the door in the morning before school.. STRANGE! Two lunches to pack... STRANGER! Two boys on the bus... STRANGEST of all!

Two little Silves boys, all ready for school.
Weston and his teacher on the first day of school. She is SO sweet, and I know Weston is in good hands.
At the lunch table. Weston takes his own lunch, and LOVES chocolate milk for a treat.
There Weston is, in the seat just above the "No." You can't really see him, but he is waving and waving and waving like crazy. He waves from the time he gets on the bus, while he's getting buckled in, and until the bus pulls out. You also can't see me choking back tears every time as I wave, and wave, and wave back to him. I love him so much!!!
And there he goes!!! (Weston gets on the bus at church on Wednesday mornings since I'm teaching Bible Study - it works out great! I'm too distracted by teaching to be upset for too long.) :-)

Out like a light.
Weston fell asleep by 6:30, the night before his first BIG day of preschool. Poor little buddy! It was CHAOS all around him with Wayne and Wyatt chasing each other, and Weston was OUT. I carried the soft and snuggly and warm, skinny boy to his bed, and snuggled him in for the night!

Yeah, I did so great!
Saturday was our first game in the new league - we practice in Sumas but our games are in Bellingham, off of the Smith Rd - Northwest Fields? I think that's the name. Anyway... It was odd leaving for a soccer game at 12:15 - we changed up our chores, and we were really looking forward to a beautiful afternoon outside, playing sports! Wayne was so excited to see his team, and to play in his first game. He thought the field layout was AMAZING and was awestruck by al the fields, goals, and PEOPLE. It truly is a sight to behold - more on that later! He is such a sweet, happy boy. He made sure Wyatt and Weston were happy and settled into their stroller, and then off he went!
Isn't this place amazing? The view of the mountain, and ALL THE FIELDS! Over 30 of them! And the people... it is seriously insane!

Isn't this place amazing? The view of the mountain, and ALL THE FIELDS! Over 30 of them! And the people... it is seriously insane!
At the end of four games, on a 90 degree day - he was HOT! Grandma was nice enough to douse him in water from her water bottle, and Wayne was very grateful!
The BIG Yellow Bus
Thursday marked Wayne's first trip to and from school - on the bus. For all of you paranoid people out there - you need not fear. I have investigated every angle of what could go wrong with a 5 year old taking the bus to school, and I can find no cause for concern. The school has a pretty amazing policy for their kindergartners, and I am so thankful! And no - I didn't even follow the bus to the school!!! Wayne was beyond excited and thrilled - and jumping up and down, twirling around. He waited with the neighbor boy, watching his every move to make sure that he was doing everything right. Timing the "when do I step towards the bus" move was a little stressful for him, but he pulled it off!!!
Wayne and Nico!
...and there goes our baby!

Wayne's playing soccer - Fall 2011 U6 team
Fall soccer has been in full swing for a few weeks now, and this weekend is Wayne's first game. We took the leap from the YMCA/Lynden league's to play with the Nooksack U6 team. Someone from our church runs the league, and does an AMAZING job, so we are happy to support him - and it's been really fun for Wayne to play with kids from his own district. His best little buddy from preschool is on his team, which has made it that much more fun for the both of them!
Go Wayne go!
Whew... It was pushing 90 degrees, so don't blame a boy for sitting on the job!
Look at those red cheeks! And oh yeah baby... He's sporting the PURPLE and BLACK!
I love this picture - Weston's posing all cute, and Tyler and Wayne are "pounding it" in the background!
No Dad laying on his stomach should ever be left to lay in peace. Wyatt will make sure of it!
Here's to 8 more weeks of sunny skies and warm afternoons!
