Kindergarten, here he comes!

2 years ago, Weston was 3 and Wayne was registering for kindergarten.  I distinctly remember thinking I would blink, and we would be registering Weston...

And wouldn't you know I was right?  I can't believe our little Weston is now BIG and ready for kindergarten - and he is ready!  He did awesome on all of his testing, and I know he won't skip a beat when he gets to ride the big bus, to the big school, with his big class. 

 (Note to future me reading this:  He had on a clean shirt, but got it dirty, so he had to wear Wyatt's shirt...  you didn't really have your kids wear clothes this small on purpose!)

Out with the old and in with the new

Mike and the Mini (I swear this should be a children's book!) came out for yet another day of fun in the rain at our house.  The driveway is perfect, but with the grade being correct, our lawn and flower beds are now 10 inches too high.  :-(  So it's out with the old.  They took out 3 dump truck loads of dirt and sod, and then we brought in 10 yards of topsoil to spread and mix in with our clay like soil.  That's this week's project, and then we will get the see planted.  We are so close to wrapping up this project. 

2nd Base Island

I think this next picture sums up our spring for 2013...

Can you believe it?  It's hard to play a baseball game when 2nd base is under water!  And if you are wondering if you can stand on second base when its surrounded by water and not get wet... you can't.

The sun was finally shining and the dandelions were out so we headed to the park to get rid of the cooped up crazies everyone was suffering from.  Such a blessing to live across the street from all this GREEN grass.  It was nice to spend some time running around and watching the boys figure out something to do with nothing.  Wyatt wants to play t-ball so bad already.  Wayne practiced catching while Tyler messed with the pitching machine.  Weston just played in the grass and had some quiet time on his own.  I walked around, pushed Addison in the stroller, and took pictures!  Now THIS is what Sunday afternoon's should be about.  A day of rest!

9 month Wonder :-)

This little baby girl has a light in her eyes all her own. She LIVES to watch her brothers and laugh at their antics.  She is good, Good, GOOD and rarely ever fusses.  She is mellow, laid back, and happy just to soak in the moment.  She is on the move!  She has started crawling like a crazy girl, and the boys are learning that if they leave their toys on the ground, she will find them and drool all over them.  She is 17lbs and in the 25th percentile for her weight.  She's our peanut!  We fight over who gets to hold her, feed her, and wake her up ALL the time. 

Addison Kay, you are a delight!

Wyatt John!

Oh this little buddy... he's enough to keep my sanity non-existent!  He is SO busy and curious and funny and on occasion... naughty!  He will do anything to get a laugh.  He loves to be dirty.  He needs to be snuggled every day, and sometimes every hour.  He hates having his finger nails clipped, and tells me, "Not now, later.  Tonight."  He is in love with his little sister and won't let anyone be mean to her except him.  He loves to play anything with a ball.  He is always hungry but never at breakfast lunch or dinner.   He brings a lot of SPUNK to the Silves family!

Hungry?

 Breakfast just might be one of the biggest meals of the day around here.  The boys like omelets, egg mcmuffins, waffles with whipped cream and strawberries and sausage...  Mmmm. The boys can pack it away! 

Readers are Leaders

Wayne has been in a reading frenzy these days, and picked up his "Stink" books from Christmas...  he no longer reads for his timed 20 minutes, he just reads and reads and reads before bed at night.  Wayne - you are a reading rock star!

Bajema's Berries

Saturday we labored in love for the Bajema's - planting 1,600 blueberry plants.  Ryan had everything laid out so well - he and Dad had the posts in and ready, there was a system, and we all worked in pairs.  Of course the "no spouses working together" rule was in force, so I worked with Dad most of the day, Tyler paired off with mom or Tara, and Jim was with either me or Tara, and.... Well, we all sort of filled in!  Jobs included 1) plant delivery to their final resting place 2) Pipe moving 3) hole digging 4) planting and 5) plastic picker upper.  It was a FULL day, and while we stopped for 30 minutes for sloppy joes, watermelon and chips, we kept going the whole time.  We bailed out a little before 3, but the rest of the crew made it until the field was completely planted, around 4pm.  WOW!  It was a BEAUTIFUL sight to behold at the end.  

Now I am thinking about... blueberry muffins, blueberry pancakes, blueberry smoothies, blueberry...

 

Park Drive Perfection

If you are driving by, and you happen to see something like the following... let me apologize in advance.  He wants to be a fireman when he grows up, and he likes to "practice." 

 Can color-blind people be firemen?  Hmm, better look into that!

 Wayne has been playing baseball, and Tyler is coaching.  We've had some nice weather so far!  And they practice across the street - which is great.  The boys and I usually head out with them, and depending on if anyone gets too crabby, we head back when we need to. 

 With all the nice weather, the boys have been outside a ton.  And while it's been sunshine and warm breezes in the afternoon, it's also really, really wet.  Like, gross wet.  There has been more than 1 or 2 days where they have gone through 3 changes of clothing.  No wonder I am doing laundry all the time!

 And last but not least... the driveway!  It was out with the old and in with the new... and we are LOVING it.  I still can't drive on it, it is "curing" and needs to be pressure washed and sealed one more time, but already I can see how much more useable the front of our house is going to be.  The boys are having a blast on their bikes, tearing it up!

Heading to Susan's

Once a week we head to the most fun place ever - Susan's!  We've been going for almost a year, and Weston has moved up from riding the stubborn Shetland pony to the bigger and feistier horses.  Wyatt often rides with him too, and they keep Susan busy keeping them safe.  They can get a little goofy up there. 

 After riding we head to the play room, and usually do obstacle courses and trapeze/swinging things.  The boys have fun, and always leave exhausted and giggling.  Susan is truly a blessing to our family - we love her!

Cheeseburgers, Sheep, and Goats

 On the Monday of Spring Break, we all met (minus Tara, who was home with a sick Taylin) at the Everson Auction Barn.  I have to tell you - this is one of the best free adventures around!!!  It was a blast - we were there for hours, and only left because we had to be at an appointment at 2pm.  Breanne had taken Addison for the morning while the kids and I did speech and errands, and to all our surprise she showed up wearing BLING.  Crazy, crazy, but she did look cute, so Breanne finally won me over to a little bit of bling in the hair.  Ha!  We all sat together to eat a cheeseburger, and the kids were AWESOME.  They were completely entertained with everyone walking around, and each other!  The animals in the holding area were so fun to go and see - and because Monday's are small animal day, there was a lot of variety.  The kids could not get enough! Finally, it was time for the auction to begin.  The kids all had full stomachs, and it was 12:30pm... they were mesmerized by the bidding, the different animals, the auctioneer's voice, and the ANIMALS.  Breanne and I were kicking ourselves - a full size pig sold for $80 - we should have bought it.  And we tried and tried to convince my mom to buy a sheep and keep it for the summer.  Why?  For Mutton -Busting!  Wouldn't that be a rip roaring time at Grandpa and Grandma's all summer long?  Maybe next year!  I don't think we will be waiting that long to make a return trip though - anyone up for a burger?
