Some catching up to do... Shocking!

Okay, so hard to believe I know, but I am behind on blogging! I'll try to get everyone caught up on the current happenings...
First, on the drive up to Aunt Shelly's, we ran across some ducks (very friendly ducks!) on the Massey Road. Wayne LOVED them, and said "Quack-quack" the rest of the day... we could have touched one they were so tame!
Friday afternoon we went to Beppe and Pake's (my grandparents) and had coffee and visited with Aunt Shirley and her two girls Kim and Michelle. It had been a LONG time since we'd seen them, so it was really fun to catch up. I remember when Kim had young kids, and to know that they were in 7th-11th grade, made me feel old! (Although she looked no worse for the wear!) Anyway, the boys were pretty good, and Wayne had a blast eating 'nacks and running around with the other kiddos. (Below: Mom and Aunt Shirley)

All the cousins... after Aunt Barb said to "make it good" because this one was going on the blog!

{ And the award goes to... }

An excerpt from a conversation I had with Tyler yesterday afternoon (he watched the boys in the morning...)

Tyler: The award goes to Weston.
Tanya: What do you mean?
Tyler: Well, it was looking like Wayne had it with the amount in his diaper, but then Weston came through and it was tied one all. They both stalled as the clock was winding down, then Weston came back and crushed the competition with two doozies, including one blowout all over his clothes. Weston definitely one the prize today.
Tanya: Oh, glad you were home with them!

Silves Family Newsflash!

Weston rolled over today! Way to go little Chub-chub!

Oh, and Wayne... I know we are teaching him to share, but I guess I forgot to mention to him that that DOESN'T mean letting Sadie (our dog) lick his sippy cup. That's just disgusting. I had a sneaking suspicion that was what he was doing, and I was right... Little turkey!

And finally, I deserve some serious blogging points for these posts! Whew... I think I'll take a few days off!

Memorial Day Weekend part II (Road Trip day 2)

And it's on to day 2 of the road trip! We woke up in the morning around 6:30 and got ready, then walked over to the continental breakfast. Tyler went to help take down the tent at the reception site, and the kids and I, along with Tyson and Breanne went on a Starbucks run. When Tyler got back, we packed up and left, going straight to the Airfield winery. I stayed in the car with the kids (due for diaper changes and feedings) while everyone else went in and tasted wine. The boys and I joined them for the last 10 minutes, and Wayne enjoyed looking at the airplanes, while Weston just smiled at anyone who would look at him. From here, we high-tailed it out of town, heading to Leavenworth (or however you spell that!) It was around 2 1/2 hours. Wayne got about a 30 minute nap in, which at least was good. We ate lunch together, then cruised the town for an hour or saw, and finally got ice cream before leaving again. With one final pit stop at Starbucks, we were home before 8pm. Again, Tyler and I couldn't believe how well both kids did in the car. We saw some amazing sights, and had a wonderful time. We realize now that it is possible to do overnight trips, and we are talking of at least doing one more this summer. Hey, who doesn't love some good old fashioned family fun?

This is what we paid for gas on the way home.
Watching a movie... again! Bajema and Tyler both found a wine they liked, the same one! Mom found a cute sweatshirt/jacket there too.

Weston Peston!

The whole gang, minus Tara who is taking the photo. Wayne is still asleep in my arms, and Dad has Weston doing a wheely so he can be in the photo too!

Eating lunch... that was a bit of an adventure. The boys were tired of sitting still, and it was pretty warm. Wayne did better when his grilled cheese came though.

.... the town.

Water and ice-cream break before getting out of town. Coldstone Creamery had a huge line, but if you buy ice cream from the freezer, you don't have to wait. I bought two tubs and got a bunch of spoons, and wa-la! Ice cream break on the cheap and in less time!

Memorial Day Weekend part II (Road Trip Day 1)

We started out leaving our house at 7am, with a caravan including us, my parents, and my sister Tara and her husband Ryan. First stop was in Mt. Vernon for gas and coffee. Wayne liked Starbucks, and especially liked Grandpa's coffee (Wayne drank it, Grandpa had to go buy another one!

Cool dude glasses!

Yumm.. Granpa's coffee!

Tyler was our driver... What a man!

We made it to our hotel by 3, and left for the wedding (the reason for the trip, not to mention family fun!) around 4. When we got to the location, we realized it was in the middle of cherry and peach orchards, at a house. They had a great place for the kids to play, and TONS of animals, which of course Wayne loved!

Dad and Weston, waiting for the wedding to begin.

Stay tuned for day 2! I know, we are so fascinating, right? We did have a great time on the trip, and the boys did so much better than I ever dreamed. That said, it was a long two days, and I am pooped! Wayne actually asked to take a nap this afternoon, and Weston is napping really well today too. I know how they feel! Between the laundry, etc. today has been pretty full, but I am going to go catch a 15 minute nap myself before Weston wakes up to eat. Here are a few day 1 highlights:
  • We heard the word "nack!" from Wayne about a million times on the way there... he was one hungry (or bored!) little boy.
  • We paid $3.77 for gas in Mt. Vernon (Everson was $4.09)
  • Toys and movies make Road Tripping with a two year old much easier
  • Coffee is a necessity when you are driving that far
  • Public changing tables are gross, and that's only if you can find one!
  • The one thing I didn't want was for Wayne to touch the hotel room floor... which of course is where he wanted to sit all the time (can you see me cringing!?!?)
  • While nursing can be done anywhere, it is certainly easier and more comfortable to do it at home! A sampling of our feeding locations.... Starbucks (next to 2 state troopers, no less!), the Jeep (this I can deal with), the grass in front of the hotel (our rooms weren't ready), on the grass up against a retaining wall at the wedding (my attempt to be discreet was lost on the folks walking where they shouldn't be!) and oh yeah... in the Jeep!

Memorial Day Weekend part I

We made the annual cleaning trip out to the cemetary to clean and put out flowers. Wayne was a helper this year, and jumped right in with his own scrub brush. Weston hung out while we all worked, and when we were done I took a few pictures of "the boys!" Wayne had a blast, and went for a nice run when we were all done (the sight of Tyler sprinting after him was pretty humorous!)

Busy, busy, busy!

Aagh! The Silves house is all a-twitter today. We are going to a wedding in Prosser this weekend, leaving tomorrow morning. It's our first family road trip, and the first time ever in a hotel with Wayne (and Weston too, of course.) I have a serious hotel phobia... the very idea of sleeping in that bad grosses me out (too many CSI shows!) My only comfort is that since the whole fam will be in the same room, there won't be much sleep going on anyway!!! If Weston has a night like last night, we are in trouble. (Boy, I bet my parents are glad I requested a room next to theirs! :-) Hee-hee-hee!) Today we are getting the yard done (Ski-to-Sea is this weekend, and we like to have it well groomed... the grass tramples less when it's short!) doing laundry, packing, cleaning the headstones and placing flowers at the cemetary, having a nice dinner, cleaning the Jeep so it's ready for the ROAD TRIP, and giving baths, laying out clothes, etc. Oh, and I have a baby shower to go to for my sister. Busy enough? Wayne is WILD, it's like he knows that this weekend is going to be different. He is just so darling... He had his hearing checked yesterday (it is fine.) My strategy before taking him in was to dress him cute, so that the Dr and nurses would see how adorable he is before he threw a tantrum over probes being stuck in his ears. It worked!!! They all thought he was beyond cute, and when he got upset, they were all quick to say,"I'm sure he's not usually like this." ;-) Sheer genious, that strategy was. What else... Oh yeah, packing for us. Packing for me is one thing, but two kiddos, one of which is his own everlasting fountain, is alot! Tyler thought I was taking too much, until I explained. His reply, "I guess that's about right then." Humph! I'll be sure to post photos and let you all know how the 4 hour trip goes, highlights and lowlights too!

* Foot firmly placed in mouth! *

Oh boy... this one's a humdinger, and if any of you think you are above this, I only ask that you examine your past! I went to town today, the usual Walmart, Starbucks, Costco run. When I go to town, especially without the kids, I try to make a point about being kind to others, and not being one of those people who rushes around with their head down. It's Tuesday, and that must mean a senior discount at places, because while I was at Walmart, I noticed an unusual amount of elderly folks. I helped a few of them... I read the label of a product to one, got something down of a shelf for another, and read a price for another, and PATIENTLY waited for numerous others to move out of the way. I even commented on this to Amanda when I called her after leaving Wal-Mart. Moving on... I was in line at Costco, and a man was behind me, with a flat cart and a see-saw on it. We were chatting a little, and I said, "Oh, that looks like fun!" He replied, "Yes, I think she'll really like it." I said, "Oh, is it for your grandaughter?" And his reply.... "No, my daughter." Ugh... My mom warned me about assuming grandchildren and pregnant women... And we all know assuming just makes an a_ _ of U and ME!

In other news... the day was crazy. I went to town, came home, tried to unload, got interupted by an hour's worth of phone meetings for work, hadn't eaten, nursed Weston, and Tyler was wanting to go outside since he'd had the boys while I was gone. Needless to say, I was a little frustrated and CRABBY. Wayne woke up, and just when I thought things were going from bad to worse... Wayne asked for a "Piggy" downstairs. I gave him one, and when we got into the laundry room, Tyler had just stepped in. Apparently Wayne had a poopie, and wreaked! I said I had to go put Weston's binky in (bless that child, he was supposed to be napping and woke up at the right time!) Tyler had to change Wayne (snicker-snicker!) Seriously folks, 2 year old poopie's are NOT fun! Then, Tyler said he would take Wayne with him to dump dirt at my parent's (they love to do this together, they hang out in the shop with Grandpa!) They left, Weston's asleep, dinner's in the crockpot, and I am blogging with a latte! Yee-haw!

{Bonding with the Hubby!}

Awww..... I'm sure some of you will be gagging, but we just had the loveliest time "cussin' and discussin' " over a fire (well, the fire was a little lacking, but we tried!) We put the boys down, then Tyler mowed while I watered and used the blower. Then we parked it on the patio around the firepit, and read magazines and talked. It was lovely! The fire was slow to start, but was helped along by... shall we say a man made source?!? Something about men and fires... Good thing Wayne was in bed! All this nice weather has me really looking forward to summer. Wayne has loved being outside, and thinks it's so cool that he can go into the backyard whenever he wants (it's all fenced in now.) He has had more than his fair share of "owies" out there, but...

Here are a few random thoughts and updates:
  • We have germination! The beans, zuchinni and lettuce, and the onions are all coming up in the garden.
  • I planted upside down tomatoes this year, thanks to our Christ Group's recommendation... stay tuned for photos.
  • Weston feeding... I have changed the nipple on his bottle, and things seem to be going better now. The new pump works great, so I haven't had to rely on formula at all.
  • "nack" is Wayne's favorite thing to ask for these days... he is a bottomless pit! If this is a prelude to the teen years, I'm in trouble!
  • Weston is a darling little boy. Today he was laughing at me, every time I went to kiss his sweet cheek.
  • Our lawn looks like green carpet. You could totally have a putt-putt tourney out there! It's Tyler's baby, not mine, so I can say this!
  • We are going to a wedding in Prosser this weekend! Two boys, one car... and a 5 hour drive! At least Wayne will have his Veggie Tales!

Some like it hot... Weston does not!

Ohhhh... I am not complaining, first off! I love the warm weather, beautiful mornings and cooling nights... I love being outside, BBQ'ing, and even scrapping in the afternoon until the high heat cools a bit. Weston however, does not. Our poor neighbors. Between Wayne crying/screaming in the backyard like he was bleeding to death (it really was JUST a haircut!) and Weston crying for no real reason that I can find... Aaagh!!! Our neigbors have dogs that bark, and we have kids that cry. It is too hot to close the windows so.... I guess they will have to just get used to it. (As will I!) While Weston is gaining weight and is not spitting up so much now that he is on ranitidine, I still think he is not getting the food that he wants. So, I am experimenting. I am going to pump and feed him with a bottle to monitor how much he is getting. I figure that there is nothing to lose, and will make sure he is using a slow nipple on his bottle so he doesn't get to used to the "easy" life. What else... not much! Wayne went down early, and had to have his blankie, binky, water, and his hat. He played for awhile, but when I went in to check on him, he was sound asleep, with his hat pulled over his eyes. Precious! That boy loves his hats, and insists on wearing them low (like Dad!) Happy Hot Day to everyone!

Pictures!

4 months old!
Such cute brothers... Wayne is very interested in Weston, and is always giving him his blanket, a toy, or trying to share food/juice!

And here we go again... We tried to explain that Weston did not want trail mix, but Wayne wasn't really listening.

Who's the mother, who's the daughter? Okay, it's obvious, but whatever! Gotta love my mom!

I was pretty late getting my camera out for this holiday, but I got a few good pictures!
