Weston's Birthday - DAY TWO!

To celebrate Weston's birthday, we took him and Wayne sledding up on Mt. Baker. Tyler thought we'd leave by 8am, I planned on leaving by 9am. We left at 8:40!

First stop... the coffeeshop! Mama needed her three shots to get the day of to a good start. While waiting, who can resist taking pictures of their handsome, scruffy husband?
Surely not me!

We dropped Wyatt off at Mom and Dad's, then scooted on up the hill. One hour later, we arrived "on the slope." It was blowing wind and snowing, but we finally found a protected area where we could get the boys out and play for awhile. So cute in the their matching snowsuits. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!
Testing out the boots... and those darn gloves WOULD NOT stay on!
See those? They are called glove clips and they attach to the gloves so they don't fall off in the snow. Someone's probably a millionaire from that idea!

Weston wasn't a big fan of the cold, poor little guy.Two is definitely a little young for such a big sledding trip! I took him to the Jeep, where he played in the back
I watched Weston, and Wayne and Tyler kept playing. They had a grand ol' time playing in the snow!

They found this steep hill that they would climb up, and then slide down on their sleds and their bottoms. I don't know who loved it more!

It is so much fun to see Wayne growing up, and really able to "get" hanging out with Dad and having fun. He was a little stinker too, sneaking up on Tyler with plenty of snowballs. Tyler was surprised and overjoyed to have someone around who was just asking to get nailed with a snowball himself!
They kept playing, and Weston found a light in the back of the Jeep, that I didn't know was there.
Forget the snow, this tube and the back of the Jeep were all that mattered to Weston!
See!?! I was there! Oh yeah, and I was so busy bundling up the boys in their hats, boots and gloves, that I forgot my own hat! Yikes. It was snowing so hard my hair was soaked in minutes.
After all that fun, we piled back into the FRONT of the Jeep, and it was snack time and hot chocolate time.
Does that boy look tired or what?
We made it back to Mom's by 1pm, where she had homemade tomato soup, bread, and smoothies that just "happened" to be ready. We ate, then piled back in the car for the 7 minute ride home. The boys all went to bed, and Tyler and I took a nap!

Happy Second Birthday Weston!

Weston is turning two years old today. I can't believe it's been two years since the little dude looked like this.
He was a very cute baby, once he was all cleaned up!And this.
But it feels like it was just yesterday that I took this picture. I remember how sweet and new he was. How cold it was when he was born (it snowed the day we took him home.) It's like it happened in just a blink of the eye.
And then I see pictures of Wayne at that time...
And I realize two years really has passed!

We thought it was such a big deal that we had a Wayne and a Weston... little did we know in 18 months Wyatt would be joining the fam!
And then one year later, we celebrated Weston's first birthday. He seemed so grown up at the time, and now looking back, he was still a baby!

Mind you, a very busy baby! Remember "solitary confinement?"
And still a very, very cute and precious baby!
And that brings is to now. Two years later. Our baby is turning two, and while he has become such a big boy, he is still my baby. He has become so snuggly, and gives the best bear hug-arms wrapped around your neck-squeezing for all he's worth-type of bear hugs. I LOVE them. If you can get him to give you one, you'll melt on the spot, guaranteed.

I love his smile. He is sweet and darling, and oh-so precocious at the same time. Weston's always up for some fun, especially if it's loud, fast, wild or dirty!
And he really does look like me. Sometimes I can really see it.
At two years old, he is still in desperate need of his afternoon nap by 12pm, but only sleeps for around 90 minutes. He is a big eater, and is always hungry. He still loves a sippy cup full of milk, and has earned the nickname "Sir Pees-a-lot" for the speed at which he can fill his diaper. He adores his brothers, and can tackle Wayne to the ground in two seconds flat to defend his toys. He is very careful and gentle with Wyatt, and loves to pat his head and snuggle and kiss him.
Weston sleeps in a big boy bed, rides in a forward facing carseat, and wears size 3t clothing.

When I say our family has never been the same since Weston became a part of it, I mean it. We are more full of life with him here. Wayne is a better boy because having Weston as a brother has taught him patience, sharing, compassion and love. Weston Robert Silves has been more of a blessing than we ever could have imagined, and it is my prayer that we will celebrate many, many more birthdays with him!

Two years ago today

we had only one precious baby boy. Two years ago, only one. On this same date, two years prior, Wayne spent his last day as our lonely only. Because the next day...

Weston joined our family.

And we were never, ever, EVER the same again!

Is this English?

I found this in a word document that was left open on our computer. I can't figure out what exactly it means, and I'm pretty sure it's not English!

Especially during the winter, I prefer to use bait. The dogfish can be a real pain in the *** in the summer, so often have to revert to hardware. For bait I usually use crippled anchovie heads with red label. I rig with a copper wire so I can fine tune the roll. If I use cut-plug, I use green label, but tend to use hoods for durability. Many think cut-plug is better, interested to hear from others. I typically use 5-7' leaders. I like to run them naked without a flasher, but this winter had better luck with a flasher.

Naked?

Without a flasher?

And they call this FISHING? :-)

Tuesday's Tidbit #2

Our morning routine:

Alarm goes off at 6am. I hit snooze twice, at which point I here Weston up. I bolt for the shower. Unless Wayne and Weston both wake up, at which point I turn on cartoons for them in our room, while I take a shower. I've put child locks on the inside of our bedroom and bathroom doors to keep them IN while I shower and get ready. Otherwise they run through the house screaming, waaaay too early in the morning! :-) I gather their clothes, and them, and head downstairs by 6:30. We watch a cartoon together, I start laundry/dishes, and then they have breakfast. I clean up and change them into their clothes, and about that time Wyatt wakes up, usually by 7:30/8am. The first thing Wayne wants in the morning is "dinner." The first thing Weston wants is milk. Oh, and until it gets light outside, they both sneak around like they are getting away with being up in the middle of the night!

Wayne calls it

a "bandageaid." And he needs one for lots of things. A squished finger, a scratched finger, a hangnail. His head when Weston hits him with something. I've tried the whole "ice if it's not bleeding, and a bandageaid only if it's bleeding," but to no avail. He always needs a bandageaid, and he prefers "Diego" ones. I also tried telling him it was called a "band aid" but that fell on deaf ears too. He told me, "My doctor Boxxter tells me a bandageaid makes me all better. I am fixed!" How can I argue with that?

Confession: I've got a heavy heart

My heart is heavy these days folks, no denying it. I do not flippantly say, "I'll pray for you." If I say it, I do it. I guess that's integrity, for better or worse. Lately though, my prayer list is getting too sad, and too long. I want to pray, but the words aren't there. Tonight I found myself looking for a few verses from God's word to spur me along. And I found these. They helped me, and I hope that they can help you too. I look forward to the day I look back and find this post, and can see all the ways that the Lord answered my prayers. He is faithful.

God is my protection. "I come to You for protection, O Lord, my God. Save me from my persecutors-rescue me!" Psalm 7:1 (nlt)

God is my Strength. "I love you, Lord, You are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my Savior. My God is my rock in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me and my place of safety. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and He saved me from my enemies." Psalm 18:1-3 (nlt)

God is close to the Brokenhearted. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He rescues those whose spirits are crushed." Psalm 34:18 (nlt)

God Has a Plan for your Life. "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, they are plans for good, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 (nlt)

Nothing Can Separate Us from God's love. "Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean He no longer loves us if we have calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger or threatened with death? No! Despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ who loved us." Romans 8:35-37

God Works All Things Together. And we know God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them." Romans 8:28 (nlt)

God hears my cry. "I love the Lord because He hears my voice and prayer for mercy. I will pray as long as I have breath." Psalm 116:1-2 (nlt)

Faith Gives Us Peace. "Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen. It gives us assurance about things we cannot see." Hebrews 11:1 (nlt)

Interesting how words written thousands of years ago are alive and vibrant, and just what I needed to know, today.
