The Silves boys were all super duper thrilled to wear their navy and green attire all football season. There was no "Blue Friday" here, every day was blue for us! Dad bought them all Seahawks socks of their favorite player too. We are already ready for next season!

Last Game - and that's how we roll!
Our last game of the year.... so sad! Thankfully the weather cooperated and we were ready to go since it was at 12:30 - easy peasy to get there on time! Tyler had to work but thankfully could leave for a few hours to coach and be there. And it was a good thing because WAYNE SCORED HIS FIRST TOUCHDOWN! I am so proud of him. He wanted to score a touchdown all season, and was so disappointed each game when he didn't. He said that other second graders had all scored, but not him. One of the reasons I love that the boys play sports is that they can work through how to be part of a team, and that not everyone can be the center of attention all the time. He was diligent and continued to play hard and help out the younger kids, and finally got the chance to run 20 yards for a TOUCHDOWN. Another great highlight - one of our kindergartners, Landen, also scored a touchdown with the help of every second grader blocking for him. The entire team and all the fans erupted as Landen scooted into the end zone. Tyler did an AMAZING job teaching the kids fundamentals and how to be part of a team. Weston was so excited for every game. For being a kindergartner he was just amazing, running and blocking kids that had 20 pounds on him at times, and holding them back. He was the first one to high five his teammates too. Great season Silves boys!

Pizza! Pizza! Football party
The season was so much fun, and we capped it off with a pizza party at Little Caesar's with the team and their families. The highlight was at the end when Tyler spoke about each player and recognized them for something special they did this year. Pretty fun to see how proud and excited the kids were. Weston was recognized for asking questions and always wanting to learn and understand, and Wayne was recognized for always listening to the coaches and helping out when there were no assistant coaches. He was a leader on their team. So fun!

September Football Fun
Guess who's coaching Flag Football?
I frequently get asked why we have our kids play sports at such a young age. Here is a summary of my answer:
- Yes it makes us busier, but it is fun, and it's time that we spend devoted to our kids and something they love to do
- They are learning lessons earlier in life, which makes it easier! They struggle with doing their best and still not scoring a touchdown, missing a flag, or even watching a friend get a touchdown and dealing with the feelings of being happy for their friend but upset they didn't get it themselves. They are learning that when you practice, you learn and improve. These are LIFE LESSONS that they are learning one week at a time while playing sports.
- We are building relationships and connections with other families and making new friends that we otherwise would not have had the blessing of knowing.

Down, set, hut! Football 2013
The week before school started we began football practice. Tyler is coaching a k,1,2 team so Wayne and Weston are BOTH on it. Woohoo! They practice directly across the street from our house, double woohoo! :-) Weston LOVES football. He can't wait for practice every night. He's still learning, but he sure has enthusiasm! Wayne is mature like all the 2nd graders, and they really do help with the younger kids. Tyler is such a great coach, and really tries to get the kids to have fun and learn at the same time. Can't wait for games to start next week!
