Opening Day for the Silves Boys - Weston's first time!

The boys were so excited to head out for fishing for the first time in 2011... and for Weston, the first time EVER!  Look at the smile on his face, he totally knew he was in for something special!he

Such sweet little brothers.  I can't imagine the years that are to come for them of hanging out, beating each other up, and beating up anyone who messes with the other!  :-)
Wayne's got his own pole.
Waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting.... but nothing was biting.
I'm sure 'Crampa was shaking his head at all the food those Silves boys could pack down.
And after all the fun - they got skunked!  At least they had lots of donuts!  :-)

Soccer and MUD!

This is what our soccer game looked like on Tuesday - beautiful, sunny... bliss!
Followed up by snacks and chips.
Saturday???  Saturday was completely different!  Cold, wet, and MUDDY!  Our game wasn't until 1pm, so at least it had stopped raining, but....  it was MUDDY!  And Bender Muddy, which is a whole different breed of mud (trust me, I have the now dingy white team shirt to prove it!)  The first time running, Wayne fell down and got mud on his hands...  once he figured out he could wipe them on his shorts, he was good to go!

So the kids were ready, and the coaches?  Thanks to a player's mom, we had our Starbucks and were ready to go too!
There's our little go getter!  This was early in the game, when he was on the ground because he was going after the ball so hard - by the end of the game, he was laying on the ground because he was EXHAUSTED!!!

Here's hoping for sunny skies and seventies this week!!!!

If you thought that I had an "excessive photo taking" problem....

it is NOTHING compared to my dear, sweet husband and father of our three boys.

He took TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY EIGHT pictures during Wayne's 36 minute soccer game.  That's an average of 7 pictures per minute.  YEESH!!!!

{a NOT normal day}

Today is a very NOT normal day around here.  Why?  Here's a few reasons!
  1. Tyler is supposed to be working, but he took the day off
  2. The sun is shining
  3. It's 55 degrees and climbing
  4. It's 11am and our house is QUIET
  5. Tyler and Wayne AND WESTON! are gone fishing at Silver Lake with Grandpa
  6. Our house is clean, with no toy hazard in sight
  7. I skipped church (oh yeah folks, I'll admit it!)
  8. Wyatt is STILL sleeping (and yes, still breathing, I checked)
  9. I am a little bored.

As crazy as it is with everyone home, and as long as our afternoons can sometimes get - when they are all gone or sleeping, for THIS long, it is a fabulous reminder to me to appreciate the moments.  I am so excited to hear how their fishing trip was - the fact that they are still gone is a good sign, I'm thinking!  Weston was so excited to catch "fishies" and to get to go along - his face was just GLOWING as they left here, and I could see him waving at me and blowing me kisses as I watched them pull out of the driveway in my VERY CLEAN car that they towed the boat with!

Okay...  I've got a latte and a scrapbook page to tackle - this is the life!  At least, for the next few minutes, and then they better all come home and give me something to do!  :-)

Wayne's First Soccer Game

After plenty of practices - it was finally GAME TIME on Saturday morning at Bender Field.  We started the morning with two sausage McMuffins from good ol' Uncle Donald's to make sure that this little man was fueled up and ready to go.  They are his favorite, you know!  I still can't get over the fact that he eats TWO!

Wayne and Ethan were both SO excited to play - I think they were down right giddy!  And Wayne was excited to be wearing his RED socks, because it's his favorite color.
Aww....  the two boys with their COACH!  :-)
And here's where the waiting began... it was cold, the previous game wasn't done yet, so some antics and "balancing" ensued...

Here's Wayne with two of his new friends from our team.  They were so cute waiting on the sidelines for their turn to sub in!
And here's Wayne, on the field, with his "old" friend.  I guess if you've known each other all of your five year lives, you can strangle each other for joy on the soccer field, right?  Hey, why not?  They are COUSINS!
Wayne got to play goalie by the end of the game, which was his favorite position, and he stopped the ball twice!  He is NOT afraid of getting dirty, AT ALL!  In fact, he TRYS to get dirty, to show Dad how hard he played.  And because when he gets home, he gets to take a SHOWER!  That's right folks - bath days are no more, this five year old has ditched them for the shower.  And he's following in his Uncle Tyson's footsteps!  :-)  They are LONG showers!

Wayne was HILARIOUS on the soccer field.  The referee was beside herself watching him, saying she had never seen such a funny kid play soccer.  Wayne is all about the fun and entertainment - at one point he told me that he had a plan to get the ball so the other team couldn't get it - I replied with, "Yeah, sure, great!  Go Wayne!"  Let me tell you... His plan worked!  He got the ball wedged between his two feet, and squeezed his ankles together.  NO ONE could get the ball from him, and the play just STOPPED.  The parents were trying to figure out what happened, and all the little kids were trying to get it from him, and he just stood there, squeezing the ball and laughing.  "See Mom!?!  My plan worked perfectly!"

Another hilarious moment...  Wayne and Ethan were playing forward (offense) and suddenly were no where to be found.  Turns out they were back with the other team's goalie (who Wayne played basketball with) chatting it up while the ball was in play - leaving their poor teammate hanging out to dry with the other 5 black team members!!!  When I asked Wayne what they were talking about, he said, "We told him that they were going DOWN.  Down to the worms and the moles in the ground, and we were gonna beat them!"  That explains all the giggling we heard!!!

Goalie throw in!  (There might be a more technical name for that, but that's beyond my kindergarten level of soccer knowledge!)
Two thumbs up for Dad!  Wayne was so excited to tell him about what it was like to play goalie, and then we told him how Uncle Todd played goalie and was GOOD, which made him so much more excited.  We miss you Uncle Todd!
Now, at first glance you might think they were screaming.  And on second glance, you might think they were just saying they were "coooooooold" and if you looked a third time you might see their poor teammate who is trying to figure out WHAT it is that they are actually doing, but in reality, they were shouting, "GO WHITE SHARKS! GO WHITE SHARKS!"  It was SO adorable - they were clear, LOUD, and they did their ex-cheerleader mama/auntie proud!!!
And what would a Rookie League soccer game be without SNACKS!  Capri Sun and a donut, gotta love that!

Sunny days are coming....

I just checked the forecast...  and can hardly believe it!!!!  All we have to do is ENDURE through Mother's day weekend's predicted deluge of rain, and then....
