Saturday.... Our little boy is now 6 days old, can you believe it? This week has gone really fast and really slow, all at the same time. Wyatt is starting to really gain back his weight... the visiting nurse came, and he had gained 5 oz. in 48 hours, which according to her is incredible for a nursing baby... way to go Wyatt!!! You'll be filling out your clothes soon. I just can't get over what a little runt he is... such a small, sweet bundle of a boy. Tyler man's the older boys and I am in charge of Wyatt. I am not going to lie folks... it's been a little bit of a zoo around here, what with Wayne losing his binkie and having to relearn how to fall asleep (he's like an addict going through withdrawal) and Weston just being his wild old self, and then a new baby in the mix too. Thankfully, Weston and Wayne both love Wyatt and have shown not a single sign of jealousy. They both like to hug and kiss him, and Wayne likes to hold "his" baby. The hot weather has definitely added another layer to our days, but Tyler takes them outside after naps to play in the sprinkler and swimming pool.
Oh yeah, back to Saturday! Tyler and Wayne went crabbing in the morning, leaving Weston with Mom and Aunt Tara. They took Dad's new boat, which worked out really well for everyone to go along (bigger boat=more people=more crab per trip!)
Wyatt and I spent the morning at home, catching up on mountains of paperwork, blogging, baby book documentation, etc. Weston took a nap, and when he woke up, everyone on the compound had a pool party. Madelyn and Weston kept all six of them busy!!!
Weston's diaper got too full of water, and I didn't send his swim trunks so.... he went in his birthday suit! Poor Auntie Breanne... she's 39 weeks pregnant here with Wyatt's best buddy!
Grandma, chasing Weston, AGAIN! I'm told this was a never ending battle... Weston runs away, Weston is retrieved, Weston runs away, Weston is retrieved, Weston runs away, Weston is retrieved, Weston runs away, Weston is retrieved, Weston runs away, Weston is retrieved, Weston runs away, Weston is retrieved, Weston runs away, Weston is retrieved, Weston runs away, Weston is retrieved, Weston runs away, Weston is retrieved, Weston runs away, Weston is retrieved.
Grandma, trying to teach modesty to a one year old, or at least get one picture that could be posted on the blog!

Sharing Cheetos and cookies in the pool. Something tells me, they are not crunchy!

And later... Mom brought Weston home around 5pm, and he joined Wayne in the back yard to play. Again, we were too lazy to go inside and get his swim trunks so.....
He played with Wayne as is!

Grandma even got a few snuggles in!
And Dad had to get Wayne in trouble... again. He's had some brilliantly good days this week, and some devastatingly bad ones....
We ate leftovers for dinner, and settled in for a quiet night. The boys were exhausted from all of the heat!

Friday July 24, 2009

Friday was a busy, busy day. Diane came for a brief visit in the morning, to get one last snuggle with Wyatt before leaving on vacation. Then, we had to leave by 12pm for a doctor's appointment for me to have my staples removed. Whew! I knew the pain would be worth it, and it was!!! It is so much better to have them out. Yippee!!! When we got home, we changed the kid's diapers, then drove to my sister's new house (under construction) to bring italian sodas to the painting party workers. It was mine and Wyatt's first real outing since his delivery, and it felt good. It was a beautiful day, and it was so nice to be outside, even if only for a few minutes! Wayne played in the dirt while we visited. He really likes Auntie Tara's dirt!Grandma and Auntie Tara, enjoying their sodas.
I sat on the back of the Jeep so as not to overdo, but doesn't little Wyatt look so tiny here?

Okay... Imagine my surprise when I loaded these pictures onto my computer and found this... naughty you Aunt Shelly! We wait until at least the 2 week mark before offering the boys whip cream from the can! (kidding folks, just kidding.)
The crew, with Tyler (aka: the paparazzi) behind the camera.
We came home, and I was tuckered out and SORE for the rest of the night. And hot! Trisha came to visit in the evening, but otherwise we tried to lay low. As much as the boys would let us! Wayne and Weston were totally wild... crazy in fact! They were getting hurt left and right, and fighting over toys, then wrestling... I finally had Tyler sit them on the couch and told them they HAD to watch a movie. The chaos had to stop!!! Weston then went to bed, and Tyler and Wayne went on an ice cream run. Whew... another day conquered!

Isnt' he cute? So wide-eyed and curious, and such long hair. Wayne keeps saying, "He needs his hairs cut!" These pics were taken Thursday morning, after a very long night with Wyatt. I think we got a total of 4 1/2 hours of sleep. It was going to be a 3 cup of coffee day!
It was a hot one, so a onesie was all the little guy needed... and even that was warm enough!
He is sooo tiny! I've been calling him my little "puppy" for a few days, and then Mom said that he was actually the runt. So true! He's the smallest of our boys, and while he was long, he just is sooo tiny. His weight dropped to 6 lbs. 8 oz. on Wednesday, and when the visiting nurse came on Thursday he had gained 1 ounce, and then gained just more than an ounce during his feeding. We're on the the upward climb!!!
Mom and Breanne came with dinner (Ina's fried chicken... marinated in buttermilk and to die for!!!!) with garlic mashed potatoes, bread, and apple crisp. Soooo good, and sooooo much better than the hospital food! They left, but I was feeling the need to sponge bathe the little guy, his hair was getting greasy! It's tradition that Mom give the boys their first sponge bath and bath, so I called Mom who said she'd come after his 9pm feeding. I loved being able to sit back and watch and take pictures, while Mom cleaned him all up. Wayne was still awake (he goes to bed much later now that he is without his binkie) and was fascinated by Wyatt's belly button.

And we called it a day! Mom visited and held Wyatt until he started getting tired and nodding off, and then we all went to bed... Stay tuned for Friday's events!

I've briefly awakened from my carb coma...

More on yesterday later, but can I say.... boy did I get a good sleep last night! A good friend of mine brought us dinner, and she went ALL OUT! Spaghetti, a beautiful tossed salad, homemade rolls and jam... and cinnamon rolls for this morning! I took one look at my plate and started tallying carbs (my old limit was 45 for dinner.) I hit that in ONE ROLL with JAM and then I quit counting. It was soooo good!!! And then last night... we were in bed and asleep by 10:30pm, slept until 2:30 when I fed Wyatt, who went right back to sleep again until 4:30. I fed him one more time and was back in bed sleeping by 4:45am until 7am when Wayne woke up. BLISSFUL! AND I was in my own bed for the first time in almost one week (my staples came out yesterday, so now I can sleep in my bed instead of the recliner.) This morning I am feeling delightfully coherent and not a bit hung-over. It's going to be a good day!

P.S. I've also had a cinnamon roll this morning already, contributing to the natural high!

Quotes and moments I don't want to forget...

  1. "Wyatt has calamari in his hair." - Tyler, while at the hospital, after I'd been holding Wyatt and eating Thai Food.
  2. "3 boys? I'll get you a recipe for a girl." - anonymous
  3. "Wyatt is hungry, he needs to drink. This one is milk, that one is juice. He wants milk." - Wayne
  4. "Wyatt is sad, he needs mom" - Wayne, while Wyatt was screaming.
  5. "I want to hold MY baby!" - Wayne
  6. "My mommy said I could have my binkie" - Wayne
  7. "Anything you say or do will be used on the family blog!" - Aunt Tara
  8. Dr. Mora - "He has hair, and a lot of it!"
  9. "Look who replaced Madelyn on my cell phone!" - Grandpa
  10. "Don't worry, Wyatt will get replaced any day now with my kid" - Uncle Tyson

While the parents were away, the big boys played!

While we were at the hospital, the boys spent their days and nights at their cousins' house. Mom came and sat with them on Sunday morning until my cousin Kelsey came at 8am, and then she sat with the boys until 2pm when Aunt Tanya came and got them. From there on out, it was good times at the Scheib's! Tanya brought them both to the hospital to see us that first night, and brought Wayne again on Monday morning and Tuesday evening. The weather was nice, and so they played outside a lot, and even got into the pool.
Of course, all that time spent outside meant they were dirty! I am told that this bath went on for an hour!
Okay, here is where the post gets interesting.... when Wayne goes to Auntie's, he has no problem ditching his binkie. By Monday, it had been 24 hours since he'd had the stinky binkie, and I told Tanya, "Don't give it to him now!" At some point he started talking about a binkie bear, and putting it in the bear (I had taken Wayne to Build-a-Bear awhile back and tried to convince him to put his binkie in a bear, but he wasn't buying it.) Aunt Tanya jumped on that idea, and before they came to see us on Tuesday night, they made a pit stop!

Are you kidding me? He's SMILING about putting his binkie inside of a bear?

He helped stuff the bear, and put a heart inside, and then....
It was time to put his binkie inside.... and HE DID IT!!!

And later, back at the "ranch" the boys all ate together...
And then every morning the three boys woke up the girls, who slept on the hide-a-bed so that Wayne and Weston could sleep in their room. Thank you girls for giving up your room for 4 days!!!

Wednesday

Wednesday was the day we came home. Shoot, that was yesterday! It seems like it was a long time ago. I was up and at 'em early, wanting to leave the hospital during the morning sometime. I made it through my shower, and then had to take a rest. Of course, that was a good time to take pictures of Wyatt in another outfit...

Wide eyed baby, don't you think?
Now that's more like the quiet Wyatt we know and love!
The rest of the morning was very busy... I spent 90 minutes with the lactation consultant, then the pediatrician came, then all the discharge paperwork and pictures... argh! They took his picture for the hospital's website... click *here* to be taken to his page. Here's my version of the photo, doesn't he look like such a little man!?! He weighed six pounds eight ounces when we left the hospital. To be honest, I was a little nervous to leave. Being in the hospital is a great way to keep me from being too busy, and I appreciated the extra time to recover. A c-section just takes a lot out of you.
Whew! We were finally ready to go. Ever notice how many more trips it takes you to leave then to come in? We couldn't believe how small Wyatt looked in his carseat.
It was sunny and HOT the day we came home, but at least there was a breeze and air conditioning in the Jeep!
We made it home, and this is what we found taped to the back door. I laughed so hard, my staples hurt! Only my sister would be up to such shananigans. There were also balloons left outside, but we're not sure who left them. Whoever you are, thank you!
And of course, Aunt Tara at work again. In my drugged state I thought that this was a diaper, but it turns out it was a bib. Who knew?
We ate lunch, and while Tyler bustled around putting everything away and running laundry, I took a MUCH needed nap. After 4 days at the hospital, the longest nap I took was 10 minutes! After naptime, Mom came over to help and hold Wyatt.
And then Auntie Tara came too, with Madelyn. Madelyn was really good and fascinated with Wyatt. She didn't even get jealous when Grandma held him!
At this point, things got crazy. Papa and Nana stopped by, Tanya brought the boys home, and it got LOUD in the house! It was utter crazyness for about 30 minutes, and then suddenly the only ones left all had the last name Silves. Our family of 5 was all home together for the first time. We just mellowed out for the evening, and enjoyed being back with the boys again. Tyler took this picture of Weston laying on the floor. Just hanging out with his brothers!
Wayne insisted on holding Wyatt... for a very long time! When Tyler tried to take Wyatt away, Wayne threw a fit saying, "I hold Wyatt, he is all mine!"
Wyatt started fussing, and Wayne was feeling sorry for him.
Get a load of this folks, we got a picture of all three boys together. What, you expected them all to be looking? I'm sure it will take a few more years before that happens.
And that brings us to the end of Wednesday (and it took me most of Thursday to complete this post!) I have some fun posts planned for you, including "Thursday" and "What the boys did while we were at the hospital" and "Phrases I don't want to forget from the week of Wyatt's birth." Stay tuned, more to come!!!
