Taylin's Baptism Celebration

After church, we headed out to Ryan and Tara's for lunch to celebrate Taylin's baptism (which we missed because of the bake sale!)  Their backyard is beautiful, and we went for a nice walk too.  The boys loved the country life!

Wayne said he was hot, and couldn't wear his shirt.  A likely story.  He just likes to go shirtless!

Weston was fascinated by the horse, and TOTALLY got zapped by the electric fence.  His reaction?  "Ouch!" and he moved on.  Such a TOUGH kid!

Tyson wrestling with the boys brought comments of, "You don't want to be an Uncle Jim!" - When Tyson was 4, he was doing the same thing with Uncle Jim, and broke his femur.  No worries - there were no broken bones at this party. 

A boy and his grandma, what is more special?

I only wish to look this good when I'm a Grandma...  heck, I only wish I looked this good now!  :-)

The Cupcake King

As a proud graduate of Leaps & Bounds Preschool, Wayne was a BIG help in promoting the coming school year and our fundraiser.  Two weeks ago, he went to the front of church and sat on a stool, while talking to a preschool advisory board member, about all that he had learned in the past year.  Denise was a little worried that he might clam up in front of so many people, but I didn't give it a second thought....  This boy was born to be in front of a crowd!  He was cool, calm and collected, speaking carefully and was so stinkin' cute it wasn't even funny.  The next week, him and a friend walked through in their Leaps & Bounds green attire, with balloons and a frog umbrella, while the bake sale to raise money for additional supplies was announced.  After the service, he helped to man the baked goods table, and generally just looked adorable in his cupcake crown.  We raised TWICE what we had hoped for, and everyone had a great time supporting a wonderful preschool. 

If you are considering preschool - I highly recommend this one!

{what goes up} must come down!

The stairs, that is. Since the weather hasn't been all that great, and we've been home quite a bit but not in the pool...  the boys entertained themselves with a "slide."  This blessed little activity kept them busy for almost an hour!!!  Up, then down. Up, then down.  Up, knock over Wyatt, then down.  And repeat!

I love the look on their faces - I remember the same look on my own face!  The stairs were narrower, and steeper, but the fun was the same.  I wonder if my mom was as grateful for the free time as I was!

Pool Party 2011

With a glimpse of sunshine, we decided there was no time like the present for our FIRST annual POOL PARTY!  We invited a bunch of friends of all ages and "groups" to stop in from 11:30 to 5pm.  It was fun to see who could make it, and when they showed up!  It was a "roll with it" kind of a day, and so very much fun.  It's delightful just to let the kiddos run and swim, and to sit around on the patio snacking and talking!  Thanks everyone who could come, and you can count on this becoming an annual tradition!

SCHOOL SHOPPING for Wayne

Let me preface this post with:  I CANNOT BELIEVE I AM POSTING ABOUT SCHOOL SHOPPING!!!!

Whew.  Okay, now that that is off of my mind...  A brand new annual tradition has been born... shopping and lunch with Grandma!  I have been doing school shopping little by little over the past few months, but Grandma wanted to take Wayne to get a new outfit, and out to lunch.  She gave him the option of going alone with her, or to take me along too.  The kid didn't even BLINK before telling her, "My mom can't come!  It's just you and me Grandma, it's a DATE!"  He talked about the "date" for a week straight, before the big day finally came.  

After looking at what I had picked up, Grandma and Wayne decided that he need sweatshirts, a few light jackets, a Cars 2 shirt, swim trunks, cargo pants, AND a few Cars 2 cars to play with.  In the end, he did decide to let me meet them for lunch at - where else - Red Robin!  He was so stinkin' adorable and BIG - ordering his lunch, saying please and thank you, and carrying on a conversation like a mini adult.  I hope that I never forget that memory, as long as I live.  It stirred up memories in me too - of when I got to go school shopping as a kid with my mom and grandparents, and how my mom always listened to what I wanted to wear (things that were comfortable and soft!) and how she always knew what was "in" for that year - well, with the exception of my first grade pictures, which sported a HIDEOUS sweater, and short & permed hair, but I've forgiven her for that. 

 The deal was that two were for Wayne, with one for Wayne and one for Weston, but that's not really how it worked out....  Wayne offered to babysit everyone's cars for them, wasn't that nice?

 Yup, they'll fit this year, and next!

 

With lots of jeans, t-shirts, and sweatshirts, and a few button ups and vests, I'd say this five year old is ready to head to KINDERGARTEN!!!
