She's walking!

It's official... on October 16, Addison took her very first steps on her own, making it from the chair all the way to the ottoman.  She was HIGHLY motivated to get to the iPad.  She did it!  I think this is the youngest any of the Silves kids have been when they took their first steps, way to go sweet girl!

Maybe we should get out more?

A few weeks ago after our football game Wayne got to go home with Grandma.  He was so excited for a little one on one time and more than happy to run a few errands with her.  Every time Mom has the kids, there is a story that comes from it.  They each have their own little personalities and view on the world, and when they are alone with someone's undivided attention - it all comes out!

First they went to Haggen.  As they walked in to the store Wayne stopped and looked around in awe.  Mom asked him what was wrong, and he said, "Grandma, I come from a big family and we only go to small stores that we can get in and out of really fast.  I have never been in a store this big before.  Look at all the food!"  OH MY.  :-)  Of course then they found the bulk candy section where he got to scope it all out and pick a few treats.

Next they went to McDonald's.  Wayne didn't want to spend all of Grandma's money but she insisted it was okay.  He ate a 10 piece nugget, large fry, and a milk shake.  Wow Wayne.  I guarantee he wasn't full when he was done though!

Thanks Mom for taking him - he absolutely loved his special time with you, and thanks for expanding his horizons!

Our first tree house

Wayne has been begging for a tree house and we've been collecting wood from the side of the road marked "free" so it was finally a nice afternoon, and we were home (been busy with football!) and it was time for construction to begin!  They had so much fun planning it out, how high, where the ladder steps should be, and how to brace the deck.  We may live in the city, but every kid needs a tree fort!

Celebrating 90 years and a pumpkin harvest

Uncle Clayt plants pumpkins every year that the great grand kids can harvest on Grandma's birthday.  What a sweet tradition!  The kiddos love strolling along to find the "perfect" one.  Leave it to the Silves kids...  they pick the ones with mud!  This year was a special year - it was Grandma Silves' 90th birthday.  90 years old!  I had no idea she was that old, really!  She is so spunky and feisty, sweet and kind.  She's slowed down just a bit over the past year but not enough to be 90!  Thank you for sharing your day with all of us Grandma, and we love you very much!

Doctor, Doctor, give me the news, I've got a bad case of loving you!

I've put up so many pictures of the boys lately that it's high time little sister made the blog!  She has completely changed in the time span of being 14 to 15 months old.  Crazy!  Her hair is growing, she's put on a little weight, and she's grown about 3 inches too.  She's got one tooth on top, and one on bottom and the second one of each is about to break through too.   

And it's not just her appearance that is changing.  She is now a lightening fast crawler and cruises around the furniture holding on and taking steps.  She reaches up on tables to grab things and can open drawers and toilet lids.  Yes, toilet lids.  *Sigh*  She is no longer a passive audience to her brothers antics - she gets right in the middle of the fray and often gets her body or her feelings hurt.  Her feelings being hurt produces the loudest crying and shrieking that will only subside if she is held close and rocked, and if you sing "Doctor doctor, give me the news I've got a bad case of loving you!"  While your're singing she'll start be-bopping her head from side to side.  Silly and sweet baby girl!  

September Football Fun

Guess who's coaching Flag Football?

Yup, you got it - TYLER!  And a big thrill this year - Wayne AND Weston are both on the team.  It has been so much fun - lots of sunny, summer afternoons in late August and warm fall days in September to practice across the street.  I visit with the other moms, Wyatt gets to play with the other kids, and Wayne and Weston and Tyler get to run around like chickens.  Hahahaha.  Weston loves playing - he sometimes tuckers out by the end of the practice but more often than not he's got a big smile on his face.  The team is made up of Kindergarten, First, and Second graders.  Our first 5 games we were undefeated, and only on Saturday October 12 did we take our first lost - to a group of "Third" graders from Meridian - biggest third graders I ever saw!!!  :-)

I frequently get asked why we have our kids play sports at such a young age.  Here is a summary of my answer:

1. Yes it makes us busier, but it is fun, and it's time that we spend devoted to our kids and something they love to do
2. They are learning lessons earlier in life, which makes it easier!  They struggle with doing their best and still not scoring a touchdown, missing a flag, or even watching a friend get a touchdown and dealing with the feelings of being happy for their friend but upset they didn't get it themselves.  They are learning that when you practice, you learn and improve.  These are LIFE LESSONS that they are learning one week at a time while playing sports.  
3. We are building relationships and connections with other families and making new friends that we otherwise would not have had the blessing of knowing.  

Wyatt's going to preschool!

After sending Wayne and Weston off to school, Wyatt was PUMPED to head to his first day of preschool.  He'll attend Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:15 to 11:45.  His friend Dane is in class with him, and he loves it!  His teachers say he started off pretty quiet, but now he's chatting up a storm.  Can't believe the little dude is this old already!
