Bound for "Leaps and Bounds" Preschool!

Wyatt-Man is heading off to preschool in the fall!  He is SO EXCITED to go to school like his big brothers and can hardly wait.  He was beside himself to go to the open house at school, and once we got there of course was completely shy and needed some coaxing to have his picture taken with Teacher Pam and Teacher Tammy.  I know how much Wayne and Weston grew throughout preschool, and I can't imagine how much Wyatt will too.  Crazyness!  I am so excited for him too - I know he will make lots of friends and learn to obey his teachers, and work on his language skills, and be totally ready for kindergarten when it comes.  I am also going to SAVOR the summer days and weeks that we have ahead of us - I am going to soak in all of the hours and minutes with all the kids home together.  I can't wait!

Take me out to the ball game - Again!

I am back!!!  I have had issues uploading to blogger, but alas Google Chrome has been the solution.  Grab a cup of coffee - we've got some catching up to do!

We are having so much fun at Wayne's baseball games.  Such a great group of kids and parents, and the kids just love an excuse to be outside, play with other kids, play on the playground, and stay up LATE!  Our early games are at 5:30 but our late games aren't until 6:45 and aren't over until after 8pm.  LATE!  It is all worth it though, we are making new friends and deepening relationships with other friends.  Plus - it's way fun to cheer Wayne on!  He has totally found his competitive spirit this season, and he is all business at the plate.  He's also really improved in his fielding and loves nothing more than to "help" his friends when they are assigned to play catcher and don't want to.  He steps in without hesitation!

Friends are the best

Someday when these kiddos graduate we are going to come back to these picture and laugh and cry at all the fun memories we made together!  Can't say enough how much we adore all 3 sweet DeHoog's - they all keep dear Auntie Manda hopping I think!  You should have heard them... last Thursday they asked if she was coming, and I said no.  All the boys were crying and wailing and thrashing around, until I finally shouted, "It's THURSDAY!  She will be here tomorrow!"  They stopped, looked at me, looked at each other and said, "Good."  And then they went to play Legos.  WOW!  :-)

Opening Day 2013 - Silver Lake fun!

After a two week countdown it was finally OPENING DAY.  The weather called for rain, and so we were so thankful when it held off until after the boys had caught their fish.  I think the final count was 12 for the year.  Granpda kept commenting on how good the 3 were, and how much fun they had.  The boys are definitely loving learning how to fish.  Wayne even has his own tackle box from his birthday, and I catch him studying all the things he has in there, mumbling to himself what they are all for.  So cute!  Even Wyatt heads out.  Dad gets them hand warmers for in their jackets, which goes a long way to help them not feel the cold chill in the May air.  And neither Wayne or Weston are at all afraid of he fish, dead or alive, but Wyatt FREAKS whenever anyone touches a fish.  Eew!!!

A hitting streak

We are almost to the end of baseball season, and I am going to be sad when it is all done.  We just have games 2 nights a week, which seems easy.  Add to that the fact that Weston and Wyatt just play, play, play and it really is a relaxing night, two nights a week!  About the third week in, it was like a switch flipped and Wayne got COMPETITIVE.  What happened?  He struck out.  And then he threw the bat at the fencing.  Hard.  Obviously I ran over and pulled him aside to talk about sportsmanship and why he can't throw the bat, but when I told Tyler later, because he was pitching and didn't see it happen, his comment was, "He cared enough to throw the bat?"  From that point of the season on, he turned into a kid that cared!  He tries so hard to field the ball, getting low to the ground.  His batting stance has improved and he takes big swings and almost always gets on base.  At our last game - he hit a grand slam!  As he ran off the field after scoring 4 runs, he shouted to me, "Did you see my "slid"?  I had to "slid" and I made it there first before the ball and was safe!"

Half mile - 4:21 - He made the 5 minute club!

What an improvement Wayne has made from the beginning to the end of first grade!  He is getting to understand competition - and doesn't like to be last.  Now though... he wants to be first.  He beat out almost every second grader in his class to take 5th place overall in the half mile, with a time of 4:21.  Amazing!
