3 weeks old, and he's a keeper!

Time keeps marching on, and most days are better than the day before (yes most, not all. Work with me people, I'm outnumbered!) Hard to believe that my little runt is now 3 weeks old. He weighs 8 lbs. 1 oz, and is still a very good little baby. He's WONDERFUL all day long, but has struggled at nights and with a few other things, so after ruling out any further issue, he's starting on a heavy duty antacid medication today. I am so relieved, and hopeful that it helps him to feel a little better. He is so cute, and has such sweet, dark eyes. He doesn't even seem to mind the loud noise his brother's are making all the time! (like now!) Having our third, and especially our third boy, has been very different. With Wayne, I was unsure of things, and not very confident. I felt guilty if I wasn't holding him all the time, and like I was a bad Mom and wife if all I did was hold him. I was intimidated by other people, and how much everyone else seemed to know about my baby boy, and wondered why I couldn't figure that out! I looked forward to every new stage and skill with such anticipation, relished in how fast he was growing (I must be doing something right!) and all in all "rushed life." Now, our family motto is "Don't rush life" and I do think we are living it at the moment. I know that I've said "no" to a lot of you about doing things, and I am sorry, but doing so has really allowed me to enjoy and savor these early days with Wyatt. The days are so busy, but I love the evenings... Wayne and Weston go to bed, and Wyatt has his "awake" time from 8-10pm or so. Our special time! That's when he gets his bath, and Tyler and I both take turns holding him and soaking him in. At 3 weeks, he weighs what Weston did at birth, and still seems so small and tiny. His hair is just as wild, if not more, as it was when he was born, and is still dark. His eyes are a deep, deep midnight blue, and are the sweetest, most innocent and "melt your heart" part of him. Or maybe that's his small hands, or his toes, or the way his lips come together when he's sleeping, or his soft soft wild hair, or his smooth skin, or the way his face scrunches up when he's filling his pants, or... It could be any number of things, all I know is I love the little guy more than words can describe!
So tiny in his car seat!
We couldn't pass up the chance to get a picture of Wayne with his Madewyn and Baby Grace. Grace was here for coffee, and Madelyn stopped by with her mom. Oh, and Wayne had to wear his "cowboy" hat!

Wayne and Weston had terrible colds this week, so Wayne had some quiet time with his game.
Wyatt... 3 weeks old!

  1. Yay for the Wyatt update . . . loved the retrospective thoughts about motherhood too. I always wonder how my mothering will change when another one comes along.

  5. I must admit, I teared up reading about your new little baby boy. He's too cute for words, and it sounds like you guys are settling in nicely to your "new normal". Keep the updates coming! I never get sick of them. ;)
