That's enough Mom!

Excuse me? Did my big baby boy really just tell me that? Wayne was giving me morning hugs and kisses, and I was squeezing him (okay, admittedly maybe a little tight) when he pulled back and (nicely) said, "that's enough mom!" I was feeling a little offended, I mean, since when are morning hugs and kisses "enough." Then he took off running saying, "I gotta go pottie!" Okay, I get that. Forgiven. I suppose it was enough if he really had to go.

Wyatt - 3 months old

Wyatt is 3 months old, and I finally got his pictures done! Click here to go take a sneak peak. And if you see me and I forget, ask for a picture! I have plenty to go around, all sizes too.

Things to know about Wyatt at 3 months:
  • He is around 11 pounds
  • He started the TEDDY program
  • He is not yet sleeping through the night. He gets up around 2am and between 5 and 6am to eat, most days.
  • He had his first haircut at 6 weeks old, and while it is growing back, he has a bald spot on the back of his head.
  • He likes to eat.
  • He loves to watch his brothers
  • He's goofy. He wrinkles his nose and laughs at me all the time. I didn't know I was so funny.
  • He wakes up at 8am and is in bed by 10pm.
  • He usually naps in the swing.
  • He doesn't usually care how loud the other boys are, he's oblivious.
  • He rarely lays on the floor. I'm too scared the other boys will squish him!
  • He is darn, stinkin' cute.

Black Friday 2009 - just 3 weeks + 1 day away!

Can you believe it? Each year I say I'm not going to get sucked into the hype, and each year it is too tempting to go and knockout a car-full of shopping before 8am. What can I say? I'm an early bird! And yes, for the record, I shower before I go AND make a coffee. And of course, because I do like a good cheat, I've already been looking for "leaks" of the ads. And I was cheating by looking at the Lowe's and Old Navy Ads, I thought of you, my sweet, loyal blog readers, and thought that maybe you'd want to cheat too?

What can I say. Misery loves company.

Copy and paste the link to be directed to the site to see what ads are out there (sorry, blogger's not letting me hotlink it). Keep in mind new ones are added as they are found, so check back if your favorite store (TARGET!) isn't there yet!

Lawn RX for Fall

I guess this falls into the "you never know what you're going to get" category of following the Silves blog....

I just thought I'd pass along our lawn care advice for the fall season. I have it on good authority (from my buddy at VanderGiessen's nursery) that we are indeed following proper protocol for Northwest lawn care. Here's the skinny.

  • Mow and edge your lawn, one last time.
  • Clean out flower beds, dead head, pull annuals, trim perennials.
  • Apply Moss Out to your lawn, if moss is an issue. I use Lilly Miller.
  • A few days later, go back and add lime. Lime is cheap. It sweetens your soil and helps all of your fertilizer to work better (helps your lawn to absorb the nitrates.)
  • One week after that, apply Scott's Winterguard fertilizer. This stuff rocks. Contrary to popular belief, if you are only ever going to fertilizer your lawn once, do it in the fall. If you care/can afford more, then do it in the fall, and then in early spring and every 6 weeks after that.
Now sit back, and watch the ground freeze. Your days of being out doing yardwork are sadly over until March!

I can explain

really, I can! I am NOT doing facebook, so don't expect anything from me! I am just trying to get a coupon code from Shutterfly for a free 8x8 book (which didn't work.) Now I'm stuck watching slickdeals.net. Oh well. Sorry for the false facebook alarm!

And seriously... in the 1 hour that it's been, do you know how many people confirmed me? That Facebook thing must be ADDICTING! And can I say how freaky weird it is when "friends" were suggested to me? How does Facebook know who I am? STRANGE people!!!

How the Silves Boys do Halloween

Another holiday (does Halloween count as a holiday?) and another excuse to make a day different. You know, make it stand out from the rest.

In keeping with that day, the boys feasted upon pumpkin shaped toast, with peanut butter and chocolate sprinkles for breakfast, and apple slices, of course! They usually wolf down this breakfast, but cut into the shape of pumpkins? Cause for some screwing-around, of course! What's a holiday without some fun?Tyler was working, and wouldn't be home until 3:30pm. So it was me and the boys for awhile!
Trisha was bringing Paige out, so I got Wyatt all "ducked" up for her. Wayne was excited to be a fisher-man too, and Weston was sleeping (until she got here, when he woke up, of course!)

Here's the cutest duck in a pond. His costume was so soft, it was slippery! And yes, I will use this picture for blackmail someday.
Sooooo sweet! What good, nice little brothers (another blackmail shot!)
Okay, enough messing around and making them pose for an endless amount of pictures (195 were taken through out the day.) Trisha and Paige are here! We were waiting for them on the front porch, of course. That's pretty common when we're having folks for coffee, but our days of it are numbered, I think. It's getting cold!

Isn't she a cute lion? I was so glad Trisha came out. What a sweet girl. I swear, she's always happy! Paige that is. Well, Trisha is too, I guess. I'm going to stop digging myself a hole and move on! :-)
Oh yes, and this is a great shot of our day. Weston napped for only 45 minutes all day, and Wayne later took a 75 minute rest = Crabby babbies! Oh well. Some people say this is a shot that didn't turn out. I disagree. This picture captures exactly what was going on. Does it make them look like perfect little angels? No. But let's face it. They aren't. At least my two little punks are definitely not! Not even on Halloween.
Weston perked up again, when he saw he was having pumpkin shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch, with orange cheese nips. Mmm.. Hey, I have a lot of pumpkin cookie cutters, and I gotta use em while I can!
After lunch the "make them take a nap so they won't be tired" war began. And continued until 3pm. Then I started getting them ready so we could leave when Tyler got home. Of course, I had to snap a few before we left!

He doesn't look like a zebra here, just cute and naughty!

He's so cute, I think I could eat him. (I nibbled on his cheeks and told him he tasted like chocolate, he nibbled on mine and said I tasted like apples. You decide which is better!)
Have a mentioned he's the cutest duck in the pond?
We cruised on out, and went to Tyler's mom's and Duane's place. Tyler attempted a photo of me and the boys here. Yikes. I give up. He snapped about 10, but this one cracked me up. No one, and I mean NO ONE is looking, except for..... Wayne? Are you kidding me? Oh well. It is what it is, and it captured the moment! My pursuit of photo perfection is definitely having the bar lowered. A lot.
Loved this one... they were so excited to knock on the door. Oh, and sorry to all the neighbors who got pranked by Weston knocking and running!
Who knew? Her baby has three babies!
The boys made quite the haul at this stop, but their FAVORITE was the handmade kids' trail mix. I made them wait until snack time this morning for it, and they were sooo patient. They sat at the counter for 20 minutes picking through it and scarfing it down!

We hit Grandma Groen's, then went back to Everson to stop at the Uncle Deryl's and Aunt Shari's. On the way, the boys snacked on Grandma Groen's standard popcorn and apples. Mmm!

Again, major excitement over knocking/door bell ringing!
Trick or Treat!
"I got something good to eat!"
Then, it was off to Grandma Silves and the Beld's. Problem was, they weren't home! Neither were Papa and Nana. Sorry guys, we missed you all!

Oh, but this shot. Is that a Halloween sky or what? I love where we live. It is breathtaking.
So, onward, and upward. Literally. We headed up the hill for a quick and crazy dinner at mom and dad's. Treven was a duck hunter, and was so stinkin' cute in his Carhart's and hat, with his stuffed duck. Problem was, Wyatt was a duck. Hmm.. Here's what Wyatt thought of it!
He calmed down eventually.
We fed the babies and visited, while waiting for Ryan and Tara and Maddie to come (they were making the rounds too.) I decided, against my better judgment, to get a shot of Grandpa and Grandma with all the kids.

Oh

My.

What was I thinking?

It was nuts. Gatherings at my parents lately are nuts. I'd like to take all the blame for it, providing 3 of the 5 kiddos, but the other two contribute their fair share too. It's a good think there is a big, open space, or it would get way too wild!

So here we go... The Silves boys with Grandpa and Grandma. Take what you can get!
Tyson and Treven
Miss Madelyn came. She liked her hood, and her tail.
Speaking of open spaces.... Dad has a new toy, a helicopter. He enjoys it, but the grandkids..

Well...

How do I say this?

It's a good thing most of them wear diapers, because I'm sure that they are so excited, they pee their pants!

He flies it all over, and they chase it, squeeling, laughing and giggling all the while. It's a great thrill, and for the 7 minutes the batteries last, we other adults have a breather!

Here's mom and Breanne. What a cute shot! They have on coordinating Buckle shirts.
Just before packing up, Wayne got to go to the laundry room to pick up his treats. He was pretty excited to know that the plate with the most cookies was for him (I think my mom went with the "the heavier you are the more you can eat" method of allocation!)
We headed for home, and in twenty minutes had everyone wiped down, in pajamas, the car cleaned out, everything put away, and feeding Wyatt. I must say, after 3 1/2 years and three kids, Tyler and I are a well oiled machine when it comes to the "we're home now" routine!!!

Hope you all enjoyed the day as much as we did, and enjoyed seeing what we were up to as well. Better go make lunch. This time change has thrown the kiddos for a MAJOR loop and we are all messed up on schedules. Argh! You single/kidless folks out there, I hope you enjoyed the extra hour of sleep...someday you won't get it! :-)
