Merry Christmas from Weston

If Wyatt had his first Christmas ever, and Wayne had his best Christmas ever, Weston.... Weston just might have had his worst Christmas ever. I'm hoping. It can't get any worse than this year! And of course, I say that with love.

When Weston is sweet, it doesn't get any better. He gives big hugs, snuggles, and has a smile that lights up his face and yours. He has more spice for laugh in one minute than most kids have in an hour! 3 weeks shy of his second birthday, he had a BUSY Christmas. He is exhausting to watch while you're sitting on a couch, let alone if you are the one keeping him out of trouble *or TRYING to*. I'd like to take this moment to thank all the many hands and feet who helped out and tried to keep him in as little trouble as possible. I appreciate your efforts!

Oh yes. Christmas. Christmas Eve we were at Papa and Nana's at 5pm. Weston is NOT a good sleeper, and he IS a good climber, so putting him down at their house in a pack n play was not an option. We went with the mindset that we would see how far we could get, and go from there. By 7pm. the little buddy was melting in a puddle on the floor. Screaming. Kicking. It wasn't pretty. He did take a minute to open his presents from Papa and Nana, a car wash and crayons for the tub! Perfectly good, clean, fun!
And then this happened....
After a good long night of hard sleep, Weston woke up on Christmas morning all fired up and ready to go. He was especially wanting to hold Wyatt on the couch, which was just about the cutest thing ever. I love how Weston "pets" his hair!
Weston totally got how to open presents this year, and would work pretty patiently to get them undone.
Wayne gave Weston this little Gorilla. Remember? Wayne wanted it for Weston, but Wayne was TERRIFIED of the thing. Weston? Not so much!!! Weston likes to make it go, and then run up and kick it down. He squeals, laughs, then does it again, and again, and again.

The boys got a together gift of Vsmile's Vmotion, with TWO remotes!
Weston got the shake and go race track, which is just his speed. Those cars FLY around the track. It's nuts!

On to Trisha's (okay, and Todd's too.) Weston couldn't be bothered to SIT, he was just standing, ready to bolt off at any moment. He ran MANY laps around the dining tables, and the kitchen island.
Stinker swiped a chocolate right off the bat. I busted him right away, but had to quick snap a shot. Can't blame him though, Aunt Tanya's coconut balls are delish!
Awww.. Aunt Trisha and Weston have a special little bond. They are both middle children, and seem to have a common understanding of what it's like to be stuck in the middle. Trisha ALWAYS gives Weston special attention.

Grammie and Duane gave Weston a Mega Bloks bus, and two shake and go cars, and Grammie sewed pajama bottoms for him. He loved the bus, and pushes it around the floor a lot.

When you can't beat him, join him! Tyler and Weston were rough housing to keep Weston occupied and from screaming.
Did I mention he was busy? Trisha' decor was fair game, in his mind.

Shortly after, Weston was running and knocked a wine glass off a rack. Yikes. That would be MY child who broke the stemware. Trisha was ever so gracious about it, and we managed to contain him long enough to finish before packing up. Tyler put him in the car first, and when Trisha helped me bring a load out, she opened the door to say goodbye. He gave her the saddest little look, and touched her face as if to say, "Sorry for breaking your glass, I'll be a good boy next time." I think he about melted Trisha into a puddle right there!

And to close... who can resist a boy in his tighty whitey's!?!?

His dad sure can't! :-)So, there's a tale of Weston's two Christmas days. Yikes! I'm crossing my fingers that this is his worst Christmas ever, since at age 2, he won't remember it. I, however, will. I won't be able to forget it for as long as I live! :-) Okay, at least until next week.

Christmas 2009 - Wyatt's first Christmas

Rather than post party by party, I am going to try to post by kid! We'll see how it goes...

So first off, Wyatt! This was Wyatt's first Christmas (he was in the womb last year, but I didn't know it. Sure made sense after the fact though, I was EXHAUSTED!) I must say that it was different than Wayne's first Christmas. With Wayne I wanted him to experience everything, be a part of everything, and with Wyatt... I just wanted him to be a baby. Do baby things. Be snuggled, be held. Freeze every adorable moment, in every adorable outfit. He had three Christmas jammies that he switched between, and of course his plaid shirt that matched his brothers. Wyatt was sooooo good at every party we went to. I don't think that he ever cried, he played on the ground or in his carseat most of the time (Tyler and I were busy with the other two hooligans!) He stretched feedings to four hours when needed, and he slept well at night in between, giving Tyler a chance to catch up on our sleep. Oh, by "sleep well" I mean he went to bed by 10pm, and woke up 2 times to eat, but went right back to sleep and slept until 8am. Anyhoo...

First party... Christmas Eve at Papa and Nana's house! Wyatt was soooo good, I hardly knew he was there! Everyone loves to hold him, because he just sits there and hangs out, content as can be. Papa and Nana gave him 4 sensory balls and a little musical radio toy, which he LOVES. I put it on his carseat, and it has entertained him immensely!
When we got there, I ran in the house with Wyatt and the diaper bag (it was in the low 30's outside) and then ran back to help Tyler unload the other two boys, the food, and Papa and Nana's gift. Aunt Karen, Mallory and Tana were the "chosen ones" who I parked Wyatt in front of! He was happy and could have stayed in his seat, but they were not about to pass up the chance to hold the little guy!:-)
This shot was after the great-grandkids opened their gifts. Can I just say, it was pushing 7pm at this point, which remarkably is most of their bed times.... And it showed. Wayne and Grace were fine, but the "babies"? Not so much. I think at one point my mom said to Grace's Grandma (her sister) "Maybe Tanya's boys should hang out with Grace and learn some manners." Of course, mom was joking. Grace is a very sweet, precious little girl. I can't imagine her ever throwing a fit like my boys can!

I love the look on Papa's face in this picture. I love it.
Chillin' like a villain.
Well just take a look at this shot of Christmas cheer!!! So delicious I could eat him up!~

Okay, now we're to Christmas morning. Thankfully Wyatt really did sleep well the night of Christmas Eve, fed twice, but didn't wake up until 8am. We opened stockings right away, and he got socks, a book and a few other small toys.
Weston was so excited to "help" Wyatt.
Hmmm.... Brotherly love?
Yup!
Wyatt just hung out on the floor playing while we ate breakfast and started opening presents, then he got tired.
And here is where he spent the next two hours while Wayne and Weston opened their gifts. Poor Wyatt didn't open his until Christmas night! More of that in a bit.
By 1pm, it was off to Uncle Todd and Aunt Trisha's. Seriously, I am neurotic in the number of pictures I take. I just always want to capture the "perfect" moment.
Talk about a moment captured. Weston was in RARE form all day on Christmas, and Tyler and I had to watch him like a hawk. Here was one of those moments. I am sure that Wyatt's turn will come in a few years!
Brenna got Wyatt a "Scout" toy.
Diane was holding Wyatt, and couldn't believe he had both hands in his mouth. He's been doing this a lot in the past few weeks, so I captured it! (Excuse the lighting. I've been messing around with camera settings, bouncing my flash, and Todd and Trisha's high ceilings were tricky.) This is why I ask that anyone who holds him NOT touch his hands. They go straight to his mouth!
Back at home, Wyatt finally got to open his presents, with the help of Wayne. He got a little ball toy, a bunch of rattles, bibs, and a sound machine. By the smile on his face, I think he liked it!

(P.S. Good thing I can edit pics to brighten them! :-) )

I've got a Christmas hangover.

Do you? Too much of good food, fun parties, loud noise, and tired kids is not a good thing!!! I can't believe it's all over. I wish it could go on and on. Then again... maybe not. I'm going to try to actually blog the events of the parties, rather than just barf pictures up on the blog. I only took 350 or so. Stay tuned!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas Eve to all you blog readers! I hope that you each have *relaxing* days ahead of you, but I'm betting it's more likely you are cleaning, cooking, baking and doing laundry!!! We are excited for all of the parties to come.

The past few days.... After the minimum day, which wasn't so minimum other than I ignored all of the cleaning and laundry that needed to be done, we spent Wednesday.... cleaning and doing laundry!!! We've been having internet issues, so I was dealing with that, and then we all took off around 4pm for a family of 5 trip to Bellingham. I ran into Target (a stinkin' zoo!) and then we all went to Old Navy. Oddly, it wasn't too big an adventure! It was, dare I say... Normal. What have the Silves family become?

After the Old Navy run... Side note here: The Old Navy run had to happen because apparently the bottomless hooligans that are my older boys have been eating so much for a reason... they are GROWING! Inches and inches. Wayne needed jeans, Weston needed Tshirts, and they needed them NOW.

Where was I?

After the Old Navy run, we went to Mickey D's where Wayne and Weston inhaled 10 nuggest, a large fry and a small fry between them (okay, Tyler and I snuck a few fries, but otherwise they inhaled the rest.) Then we headed to James Street to see the "decorations." Wayne is in love with any and all dec-o-rations. Tyler and I cracked open a bottle of sparkling cider, and the boys oohed and aaahed appropriately from the backseat. It's a family tradition that will go on and on!!! I can remember when Tyler and I were dating, and we'd drive through there. Oh, how far we've come! :-)

So we're in for a quiet afternoon (except for my friend from India who will be calling in a few hours to tell me why my modem and router aren't getting along) and then we're off to Papa and Nana's tonight. Tomorrow morning is our own Christmas, and then at 1pm we're going to Trisha's for Tyler's immediate family Christmas.

Oh.... and curiosity got the better of the two big boys.... They were in the coffee room, when Weston let out a wail and Wayne started calling out, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" The pulled down the stocking holder and it hit Weston between the eyes! So, he's got a nice little black and blue egg to show you all in the next few days.

Merry Christmas Eve folks!

The Minimum

Today is a day for the minimum. I vow to do as little as possible. The next few days will be full of cleaning, laundry, baking, and family bonding. Today.... the minimum. I promise to change diapers, do dishes, pickup toys and run to Target. That's it. No cleaning, no baking, no "getting a jump start" on the next few days. I am sooooo looking forward to it! Maybe even a 10 minute nap, if I'm lucky?

In other news... today is a momentous occasion as well. I am going to have my very first massage ever. And while I am looking forward to it, I am also a little terrified it's going to HURT. That said, having someone rub my shoulders who WANTS to do it, and who I don't have to "return rub" back? Can't go wrong there!

Wayne's First Ever Christmas Program!

It was finally here, Wayne's first Christmas program! We have practiced his song (and all 8 verses) all month long, he decided that he wanted to wear his fancy Christmas clothes and carry a sheep, and we were READY!

Of course the morning of, he was tired and wanted mommy. I finally got him to go with his class, but we were SOOOO afraid that he would see us when he went down the isle and leave his group. Just as he passed us by, he turned, and his eyes met mine... And he smiled! And then he KEPT GOING!Whew! He made it on stage. He was really going to do it!
He hugged his sheep pretty tightly, but once the music got going, he was really into the motions.

"The shepherds heard a voice, the shepherds heard a voice, all through the dark and quiet night the shepherds heard a voice."
"Thank you for God's son, thank you for God's son."
Can you believe that our baby was in a program? Crazyness! I coerced Katie V. to video tape it for me while I was taking pictures. She was reluctant, but was great and helped me out. She's going to be an AUNTIE soon, and I told her thanks for helping to make a memory last forever. I don't trust my fleeting mind to remember all these precious moments when Wayne his 6'5" and in a size 14 shoe (and eating us out of house and home!)

On that night... I am SOAKING UP these moments with each of the boys. I realize how quickly time has gone with Wayne, and I just enjoy each of our boys and the stage that they are in. They are so precious and perfect, and they are discovering and learning more every day. I want time to stop, and I want to be still. I want to memorize every curve of their face, twinkle in their eye, the way their hair looks like a birds nest when they wake up, the way they love each other, and how absolutely in love with their mama each and every one of them are. I want to live these days forever.
