On Saturday we ventured down to Anacortes and hopped a ferry to Friday Harbor. With a 6:30am departure from E-town, and a wedding the night before, it was definitely a morning for McDonald's and Starbucks. For memory's sake, the 3 boys currently eat 5 sausage McMuffins that cost $1 each, and have 3 waters, so as of yet, they are a cheap breakfast date! The real fun started once we hit Anacortes... as soon as they could see the water and the boats, you could hear the excitement in their voices. Getting out of the car and loading up the stroller was also high excitement - seeing Grandpa and Grandma and Ryan and Tara with the girls means that Family Fun Day 2012 has officially begun! We walked onto the ferry, and found our place on the top floor. Perfect! It was nice enough we could be outside for a good portion of the ride to Friday Harbor. The boys loved the boat and watching all the islands as we passed, the other boats, and were on a whale hunt. No one got motion sickness, except me for a little bit. Add "the ferry" to the list of unconventional places that Addison has been fed! (Others being the Lummi dock, and the edge of the beach and water as the tide was all the way out at Birch Bay.)
You know Aunt Tara was seriously preoccupied or that she seriously trusts Wayne to let him hold Taylin! So funny. This little girl has come a long way, and is SO GOOD. I hope Addison is as good a girl as she is in one year!

Some people feed the pigeons... but my Dad? Nope, he feeds the grandkids! I think this was a round of fries with ketchup for all.
After getting off at Friday Harbor, we wandered aimlessly for a few minutes, uphill. I asked someone who looked like they knew where they were going where the park was, and they directed us to the "Sunken Park." While technically a park, 2 swings and 2 ride on things was hardly enough to excite this crowd, but it gave us time to regroup and the kids time to blow off some steam. After this we went to find the whale museum, but got distracted by a Farmer's Market that had AMAZING pizza.
Our new stroller that was delivered the night before... AMAZING. Don't know what I would have done without it. It turns on a dime, even if fully loaded, and seats either 1 or 2 kids.

On the boat ride home. Weston was so good all day, definitely becoming a big boy and acting like a kid who is almost FIVE. I can't believe how much he has grown up over the past few years.
Weston was driving us. Apparently there was a terrible storm and Wayne had to be his lookout to help him steer away from the rocks. They managed to drive us to safety.

And there we were, back at the dock, our lovely Daycation over with. I love that we love our family and enjoy spending time together, and that we can create memories like this for our kids with their cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. I know that these days when they are so young and excited over every new experience are fleeting, and now that they are a little older we are so enjoying being able to do things like today with them!
